008 Conclaverse Repository

Welcome to the Conclaverse Repository!
The chances are that you have just followed a link to learn more about the setting of one of my stories (or, you're subscribed to some of my writing). As you probably guess, that story from which you came here is related to another, be that through references, development of a plot line or simply though prequel/sequel relation. I figured that instead of forcing you, dear reader, to jump between my stories in order to find ‘the beginning’, I’ll make a blog post with proper guidance instead.

First of all – why Conclaverse? Well, it derives from two words: ‘universe’ and ‘Conclave’ – simply put, it’s a setting of mine (and by setting I understand characters, places, events etc.) built around the idea of the Conclave. But what is this Conclave thou speakest of? Let me show you a direct quote of explanation.

She was, after all, a member of the Conclave – an elite and covert congregation of unicorns sworn to protect ponies from magic... and magic from ponies, sometimes. Founded many years ago by Star Swirl the Bearded, the organization knew that any use of magic beyond ordinary bag carrying or helping in ponies’ everyday activities must be watched upon and, if necessary, controlled. The Conclave was there to make sure every mundane day in Equestria would stay that way.

How does it work, exactly? Well, now that you know what Conclaverse it, let’s take a look on which stories are considered to be in continuity with each other.

Edge of Reason
[Adventure] • 5,000 words
[Trixie][Twilight]

Mysterious fire devours the Everfree Forest, threatening a local settlement of Ponyville. But it is no ordinary fire and no ordinary mare is sent to investigate! Join Trixie, agent of the Conclave - an elite and covert congregation of unicorns sworn to protect ponies from magic and... magic from ponies, sometimes.

Will Trixie discover the cause of the fire?
Will she survive the hazards of the Everfree Forest?
Will she endure the presence of a certain lavender unicorn?

It remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: if she does, she will not be the same...

2012/03/06 First published as an entry for February Write Off.
2012/06/20 Edit; fixed some syntax errors, added indentations, made the whole thing look better.
2013/04/29 Added new version of the cover.
2013/04/30 Edit; full rewrite of the story in order to improve its quality, about ~500 words added to the original.

Edge of Reason is the very beginning of all things – of my take on Trixie as a character, of the concept of the Conclave, even my writing itself! It’s about 5k words, so it’s not too much to get you bored if adventure stories aren’t your cup of tea, but hopefully enough to get your curiosity as well as attention towards a bigger project called The Conclave Trilogy.

Shadows of Canterlot
[Adventure] • 13,000 words
[Trixie][OC]

Sinister plot threatens magic in Equestria, and it is up to one boastful mare to stop it! After recovering a mysterious emerald from the Everfree Fire incident, Trixie will travel across the land, perform some awesome magic and even learn a thing or two about the magic of friendship!

She might also uncover a conspiracy that will make Equestria tremble… all in her unique, spectacular style!

2012/03/19 First published as part one of The Conclave Trilogy.

Arcane Equilibrium
[Adventure] • 29,000 words
[Trixie][Twilight][Rarity][OC]

Plot against unicorns and the magic itself thickens! After unfortunate events of the last Nightmare Night, Trixie’s pursuit after the mysterious cult continues. Will she be able to find an ancient artifact while seeking revenge herself? With an unlikely alliance she’ll forge, she might have that chance!

But there are battles that cannot be won by outstanding magic - ones that we fight with ourselves, ones that we fear to lose...

2012/10/3 First published as part two of The Conclave Trilogy.

Showmare’s Gambit
[Adventure] • 0 words
[Trixie][Twilight][Rarity][Gilda][OC]

2013 TBA further in 2013 as part three of The Conclave Trilogy

So that’s it! It’s not much, but I felt it was necessary to wrap some of my stories in one post.

Of course, if you have an OC or a background pony that you wanted to put in some kind of secret brotherhood/guild/organization, but the concept of such has eluded you until reading one of my stories, be my guest and use it (letting me know beforehand, of course). In other words, why not Zoidberg the Conclave?

Nah, I’m not really counting on that (though I heard rumors that Colgate has been associated with the Conclave…) – I’m just an author with slight OCD that felt necessary to make that kind of guide. In any case, I hope you did enjoy, are enjoying or will enjoy reading stories from within the Conclaverse!

Or not, I guess?

First off, I salute you for digging up this old fossil! As you have probably already found out, I never finished this tale, so allow me to apologize if I left you with a disappointment of a cliffhanger. The third story was supposed to have this exact cover (yay, I can into archeology too!).

My take on Trixie within my personal canon has changed over the years. If you're interested, feel free to check out Stage Revival (which is actually a sequel to another story), and if you're looking for some magic adventures, then I invite you to Arcane Realms.

On a side note, I will always look at this Conclaverse with weird love-hate fondness. I would love to erase it, to deny its existence, to escape its poor quality that in no way represents my writing as of today, but that's where it all began - on the edge of the Everfree Forest.

Thanks for the update. I actually haven't read the series; I'm just working on my collection. I guess I'll delete it, if it's unfinished and something you're embarrassed by. I'll keep the others you name.
