    April Check in

Next chapter is crawling along. Not fast but it's growing every couple of days or so. Also not dead and no I am not doing the April 1 prank stuff. It's annoying to deal with when trying to communicate clearly.

This months recommended reading Demon world boba tea shop

    March check in

Still not dead, and some progress has been made on the next chapter. Not a lot, but some. How long it takes for some to become a completed chapter is anyone's guess at this point.

    January check in +scheduleing

Not dead, and currently plotting. I'm going to go back and reread my story and get familiar with it again. My other projects will be taking up most of my time for the next month or two, so I will try to start writing for this again sometime around March. How long from then till new content? I am not sure myself, but it will be on the way.

Update status and a Poll, Yay! · 8:59pm Jan 28th, 2013

Howdy, first things first 4k words out of the minimum 5000. so getting close.

Now for the meaty bit. I have a bit of a set timeline for when this story takes place, though this can change as the story hasn't set it in stone yet. Right now I have it set to right before the MMMystery on the Friendship express. that means the invasion of Canterlot hasn't technically happened yet. What I want to know is what do you want for the invasion. Same rules as always, post your vote so it's obvious what your choice is, and make sure it's in the comments of this blog otherwise it will run the risk of going uncounted.

Some ground rules, if Troy is in Canterlot at the time of the invasion, he is not going to seek conflict. He is going to focus on survival, meaning he will only engage in combat if directly threatened or otherwise motivated to defend himself or others. as awesome as it would be for him to duke it out with chrysalis it would feel like I was breaking my own story.

Now for the options, keep in mind this is a bit farther down the plot rails.

A. Troy is present in Canterlot, but for his own business rather than the wedding itself. It could be an attempt to gather materials or develop a weapon for home defense with unicorn aid, I have a pretty good idea of what it'll be if we go this route. He will be situated near or in the castle. He will witness chrysalis sending the Twilight to the crystal caverns (Though he thinks she's been murdered outright.) and act accordingly.

B. Shift-able premise, Troy ends up in the dungeons at the beginning of the siege, either by misunderstanding, his own actions, or Troy could have actually shut himself inside as he though it was probably safer. At any rate he will be in a cell when the changelings attack, they find him and one 'sets him free' allowing him to wander around unmolested as the city descends into chaos. Allowing him a unique view of the situation. Even if that means just walking back to the forest.

C. Home is where the heart is, Troy stays in the forest and views the whole attack from what little he see's from the forest. In this situation there would be more castle repairs and home improvements and maybe some interaction with other characters, though unlikely since everyone of note is at the wedding. So most likely would be extended interaction with Zecora, (they will have already met before this so don't worry about that.)

As always feel free to offer suggestions or changes you think are cool, I might just agree with you.

B
Have him befriend the changelings!
Happy days and sweet dreams forever!

I like the look and sound of B.

Tau

I vote for A.
B has already been done multiple times before and C sounds kinda boring.
Also A leaves some more options for further character development and interaction with the other charactes.

B, for more action.

B, but maybe when he's set free he could look for some materials.

B, I suppose. Though A also sounds interesting.

A. I have a feeling, based on what we've seen of Troy, that he will probably end up fighting the changelings for some reason or other.

A. Beserk!Troy is best Troy.

D, become the unchosen one. For who or what? Don't know, except it should conflict with pony interests. Champion of changelings, Alpha of diamond dogs, reverse Dovahkiin (friend of dragons, absorbs pony souls?)... (Insert plot elements here) savior (yadda yadda) and BAM! Overthrow the pony overlords! :trollestia:

A
I would like to see him "act accordingly" when he thinks someone has been murdered.

Hmmm, may I do a combo? B with A after to get materials.

B is where its at!

762824

Yes, we can do a combo, a combo of A and B will be that Troy is going about his own buisness, but when the Raid begins he locks himself in the dungeon to escape the changeling horde.

just for clarification, there is little to no chance of 'befriending' changelings at best they will be non-hostile. I don't know, It could go either way.

B
I don't think I've seen something like that.

Choice B please.
Yeoman, out

c just seems to boring, B would be interesting but A would be so awesome

you just murdered twilight by fire? you die painfully, hell i just might chop that horn of with an axe.

I AM SO TORN BETWEEN A AND B!!!

TMH

B.

I can only imagine the possibilities for situational comedy there!

Carry On

Combo of A and B if you please. Thank you.

I like B, though i'd prefer if instead of the changelings helping him (why they'd do that, I have no idea) he takes the opportunity to escape. Maybe he could unknowingly help the ponies with the invasion during this, simply as a byproduct of his fleeing. I believe it would be quite amusing.

B or C.

I vote B
If it gets down to JUST A and C, I vote for A.

B should be interesting.

b definitely b.

a sounds boring.

I like C it's more believable and I the trip to Canterlot would be extreamly difficult to get to and I can't imagine why he would go there since he can't understand anyone and vice versa.

The Zecora talk and building the castle would make more sence and have some clarity to things. (I can't picture A or B to work well with the story. Or at least anything believable. The language barrier would create problems and Troy is so imposing he would have to try to establish relations with who ever approaches him. That would leave some ponies from Ponyville and Zecora. If anything I think Zecora would likely be the best bet to become a regular person to meet.

If anything the only idea I can picture Troy going to Canterlot would be if Princess Celestia wanted to meet the mysterious creature.

I will say one thing it would be interesting if Troy encountered a Changeling while he was doing repair work. The Changeling would likely have no idea what to disguise itself as and when it tries to disguise itself it turns into a 3 foot tall Troy...which may cause him to burst out in laughter.

A combo of A & B for me.

Oh I would like to add in a few suggestions if you go for one of the ones I didn't vote for. Troy is not likely going to just walk into Canterlot. (Especially since it's pretty far away and likely a few days travel by foot and I don't think he would risk going by train). It's at least a few days walk so Troy is unlikely going to just head there and with a talking problem he would have no idea Canterlot will be there.

If Twilight is asked by the Princess to take Tory to Canterlot so she could meet him then that will likely create a new set of problems that maybe easier to solve but their mostly Twilight's. First how to convince the rather large and creature that if it felt threatened might attack some pony even though it can't speak Equestrian. Second how are they going to get it to go into Canterlot. Troy is by all acounts the only human he's knows is there so going into a large city is extremely risky their are to many unknowns and variables that could happen. Not to mention he stick's out like a sore thumb and even I wouldn't want to be that exposed. Twilight will likely have to figure out a way to sneak him into Canterlot.
Although I can picture Troy's mere presence may create some panic since he's just so imposing.

If anything Troy is likely going to be kind of uncoroperative at least when it comes to going into a major city for all he know's someone may think he's an animal escaped from the zoo.

Sorry but I can think of how interesting it would be to see how Troy fixes up the old castle.

Hm, I'm a little torn. For A, to be in Canterlot already; it's too much of a story jump in my opinion. I agree with 771532 SpartanCommander on that. As for B, well, if you really want him to already go from isolated forest to pony capital, then yeah the Castle's dungeons may be the best option. I'd say something like...

Twilight makes contact with the human, but fails to do any good with it. She later reports to Celestia the human's existence and her inability to communicate or introduce him to society or at least get him out of the most dangerous forest in the world. Celestia decides for both his safety and the safety of her ponies that it's best to get him into Canterlot but after misunderstandings (like sending soldiers to fetch him) he is placed in a decent holding cell in the dungeons and the story moves on from there? That sounds good the more I think about it but...

Overall though, I'd vote for C. Again I agree with 768429 SpartanCommander. I think Twilight should still spend some time with him, just enough to realize he isn't a monster to be feared, good comes from it and such. Maybe they even work up the courage to give him a brief tour of Ponyville. But then before Twilight can learn more about him she and her friends have to deal with the wedding. I'd assume that even though Zecora can't communicate with him either, she'd be more accepting, teach him how to survive in the forest, get to know him on an even more closer/deeper level than Twilight could and from that relationship, Celestia has Twilight use that budding friendship to extend that friendship to the Mane 6 and slowly start to get the town to accept him in similar fashion as Zecora was. Through Zecora he's no longer afraid of Ponyville and the town, with Zecora's and Twilight's, help stops fearing him and the story moves on from that?

Those are just some quick ideas you could figure something out from. How good does these suggestions sound to you?

As I stated in the post, this is WAY down the plot line. But I do like the way you think, I might just use some of this. we shall see.

B sounds the most intriguing, so imma vote on that one.

Option B sounds way too good to pass up. I mean who doesn't like dungeons? I hear that if you're lucky your cell might even have a barred window to look out of (o_O)

A!
C sounds boring and B is meh. only A is able to deliver epic adrenaline to the audience by way of Action Shotgun!
the choice is obvious.

I'll say C.
Though I would like it spiced up with him finding a changling (or a group of them) knocked out of Canterlot from the spell, afterwards. Whether their interaction is hostile or not, I think that would be interesting.
