Happy Misgiving everypony!

For those of you who don't know, one of the residents at a group home I sometimes worked with conflated both Christmas and Thanksgiving into a holiday called 'Misgiving,' which is quite appropriate, IMHO. He was a really cool dude.

I have to work at the group homes either over Thanksgiving or Christmas, such is the nature of essential jobs. While I'm against the idea of stores that aren't strictly necessary being open [does a big box store really need to make a few extra dollars on Thanksgiving?] there are of course some fields where they can't just shut down for a day, even if they wanted to. There was one holiday years ago where all the residents at the home where I was working were home with their families so there was nobody to watch, and the only reason I was there at all was if somebody's parents/guardians dropped them back off early.

Some of the homes have big Thanksgiving celebrations, others are more low-key. I've also taken a couple of residents to visit family a few years. I don't know what I'll be doing this year, but whatever it is, I hope it's a fun time for everyone. Maybe going on a walk with the one guy at the house who really enjoys being outdoors, maybe taking another guy to be with his family; maybe we'll be having a get-together with several of the homes—those are always fun.

Probably a little cold to have a picnic, although I have had Thanksgiving picnics before, looking over a windy lake.

Here in Michigan, the leaves are off most of the trees, and it's grey and gloomy. There might be snow this weekend (they've already gotten it further north). Even if the equinox doesn't say so, it's basically transitioned out of fall and into winter.

Speaking of winter and planning for the second Misgiving holiday, as is tradition we're doing Jinglemas! Today's the last day to sign up, so if you're interested in a secret Santa-type event, click HERE to find out more!

Also about time to start putting Santa hats on our avatars.

Also, in followup to the previous blog post about PVCF, some people have started to post their stories already, and Nyronus made a group to put them all in, with separate folders for both the Scattered Pages stories and the app stories—you can find that group HERE.. Mine aren't up yet but will be soon (ish) . . . but there's already six app collections and three stories from the book, so you'll have plenty to read over the holiday

So yeah, for those of you in the US and I suppose elsewhere in the world who celebrate Thanksgiving, happy Thanksgiving to y'all! And for everyone else, it's Thursday, so happy Thursday to y'all

And a happy Misgiving to you too n_n

So yeah, for those of you in the US and I suppose elsewhere in the world who celebrate Thanksgiving,

Outside the US, only Canada has Thanksgiving and it has it in mid-October. Our harvests have to be earlier due to the cold, so our harvest festivals are earlier as well.

Old Joke

Q Do they have the 4th of July in England?
A Yes, but they don't celebrayte Independence Day

:trollestia:

Happy Imperial Thanksgiving!

Hope there's nothing too difficult in the shop!

Also about time to start putting Santa hats on our avatars.

For once, I'm two years early.

Happy Misgiving, AB!

Happy thanks giving to you too, hope everypony has had a good one :)

Off topic except for the last picture, I really love the Yakutian pony craze that hit some months back. They're adorable.

For me, this was the first Thanksgiving get-together since Covid. Found-family rather than biological, and all the better for that. Turned into a sleep-over because the herbal martinis were just too good to resist. Best Holiday! Hope you had a great one!

Happy Belated Misgiving!
