Actually done before Halloween this year! I wrote all of this in one go a couple days ago. Cutting it close!
Story with this one, and this is sorta spoilers, so maybe read the fic first.
The other day I was at my parents' house having dinner, and the subject of my somewhat wealthy grandmother on my father's side came up. She lives back in Ireland (we're the only branch of my family in the USA), and my dad was over there staying with her for a while a few months ago.
While he was there, he discovered that she had written all of her children out of her will.
He was not happy about that.
Flash back to the present, we're talking about her at the dinner table and he starts talking about how her house had fallen into disrepair. Moldy walls. Towels that had been there since my dad was a kid. A shower that had been broken for months. That sort of thing.
And I'm just sitting there going:
"Oh my god. My apartment is a mess. I have a bunch of trash piling up. I can barely get myself to use the phone, there's no way I'd be able to call someone if my shower broke. I'm just like her."
It was not a good feeling. And what better to do with a growing feeling of horror than turn it into a horror story?
Ha ha! All of my stories are therapy!
Anyway, thus was born this fic. I hope it gives you chills or makes you feel something.
