    Well, color me impressed.

All 78 episodes on 2 discs, the translation is just as solid as the Hulu version, the subtitles are on by default, and they even translated the mid-episode character cards.

    Hugging Ponies

Well, because there was no TYT this week...

Here's an absolutely adorable tutorial on how to hug your pony from doubleWbrothers.

So I've been busy away from ponies... Again...

With my quest/race to get a Rainbow S on all of Freedom Planet 2's stages, my creativity lit up like a bonfire again, and I started crafting an alternate ending of sorts for the past week.

That story is now complete, and posted in its entirety over on AO3.

I'm just gonna come out and say it. · 12:56am Oct 20th, 2023

These ten seconds fucking hurt, folks.

After giving all of the others straws to begin drinking, Alphabittle looks down at his magically-regressed daughter... And hesitates.

Thinking, what? At a potential second chance at the experiences that he had lost? Or realizing that he'd never get a second chance?

Anyone who still thinks TYT isn't emotionally deep after this needs to take a long walk off a short pier.

Alphabittle is best pony dad so far.

Yeah, that's what redeemed this episode for me.

Didn't need redeeming for me. It was a bit of a retread, yes, but was cute throughout, had me laughing when Sunny ate the apple, and then boom, it stabs us in the heart right here.

This hit me where I live. I'm not a parent, nor do I have children, but this REALLY hit me in the feels. To think Alphabittle lost so many years that he could've spent with his daughter just makes this so depressing. I'm going to assume that losing Misty for so long aged him a lot faster, where stress really got to him as he wondered what he did wrong or why his daughter never returned to him until a few episodes ago.

I sometimes wonder if this could be a reason why you don't see Misty's mother around. Maybe the mother divorced Alphabittle due Misty being lost out there in the forest. This may have caused even more stress for Alphabittle to endure into thinking that he was at fault of having such events transpire.

We really do have to feel sorry for him. We really do.

I think every single parent we've seen in G5 has either been single, or we haven't seen their other half.

Argyle.
Haven.
Phyllis.
Alphabittle.

I will admit I cried a bit

It may have been a brief moment, but it was a very impactful one.

Yeah. That WAS a really emotional moment. And, yeah, I could see where half of him might be briefly considering a possible second chance and the other half would realize he never WOULD get a second chance.

And, yeah, it was Opaline's fault that he lost two decades of fatherhood, not his own. That makes the moment even more emotional.

And speaking of emotional, if he knew how much Opaline emotionally abused Misty, he would be REALLY peeved. Probably enough so to go to Sunny and her friends to DEMAND they tell him where Opaline's castle is so he could hit her with a few dozen "Frosty Shivers" spells for what she did to Misty. And nobody would be able to blame him, nor would they be able to disagree that Opaline would fully deserve it.

THIS, THIS RIGHT HERE, is where Pony REALLY shines. In G4, G5, Comics, Fanfics, Art, the best stuff is the stuff that speaks to the audience, the emotions and core things that tie us together. In this case love and loss are universal truths (to the human condition). Opaline not only filly-napped Misty, but she for who knows how many years emotionally, mentally, and possibly physically abused her. I doubt Misty heard more than a half-a-dozen kind words throughout the entire length of her being Opaline's stooge/punching bag.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I probably cried a tiny bit in this episode. Sure some of the shenanigans and antics were a bit :facehoof: but when it got to the real heart of it:pinkiesad2:

Well, take it from someone who doesn't have and can barely stand children, this is what parenting is: making sacrifices for the sake of your kid. What makes it especially tragic here is that both Misty and Alphabittle both want/need the same thing, but they can't have it. Misty's childhood was stolen away from them, and that's not something that can be fixed by the end of the episode and be put in a letter for Princess Celestia.

Agh, yes, I actually really loved this episode I don't normally like TYT stuff, due (in large part) to Izzy; she just seems like Pinkie Pie with too much caffeine.

Whilst Tell your Tale often revels in chaos and mayhem, capturing the anarchy-fuelled energy of The Goodies and the Marx Brothers, this episode nicely demonstrates it can handle deep, emotional moments.

That one part made the whole baby gag of the episode worth it, honestly.

The best TYT episodes have a way of making their 5-minute runtimes memorable.

This.
When Misty told him she didn't feel at home in Bridlewood, he arranged for her to live in Maretime Bay.

Of course he wanted Misty to stay with him, but he did what was best for her.

I rolled my eyes when they turned into babies again.

There were a few tears in them at this moment.
