Well, color me impressed.

All 78 episodes on 2 discs, the translation is just as solid as the Hulu version, the subtitles are on by default, and they even translated the mid-episode character cards.

Hats off to Discotek Media, because this is probably the best version of the Sonic X sub so far.

I mean, my starting point was really, really low in comparison, because the first box set of the first 26 episodes I bought back in 2006 had the most laughably bad subtitles. At the end of the first episode when Chris pulls Sonic out of the pool, any guesses as to what he said?

"I am Sonic Rat!"

I don't think it's possible to be worse than that. Even 4Kids wasn't as bad as that.
