Metroid GoH: 6K word update today · 11:16pm Aug 28th, 2023
Hey all,
So, as I'm writing the next chapter... this shit is getting a little too long for my liking. Well, that's actually not true... I tend to prefer large slugs of chapters from 8,000 words and up. However, I know not everyone enjoys that.
Beyond this, there's kind of an important boss fight that needs to happen before a certain princess gets reintroduced, as I've been leading up to. Not gonna spoiler anything here, obviously, but as I'm seeing where I am, how much has been written, the topics I've covered, and what's to come, this would probably push close to 20,000 words. With over 10,000 for last chapter and enough time having passed already, the only options were to split it at one of two places.
One would be creating a cliffhanger right before the boss fight... but I've already done that twice already--three if you count the Viridian fight lol. Therefore, I'm gonna take the beginning 6,000 or so words which works perfectly as standalone buildup to the next area of exploration, edit it, spruce it up, and publish it today.
You can expect it in an hour or two (assuming it hasn't gone live by the time you're reading this lol). While I may disappoint a few in that there's not a lot of 'action' per se, I have a feeling the subject matter is going to ignite some... interesting comments, conversations, and speculations lmfao.
Anyway, that's my plan. I hope y'all understand. My apologies to anyone who was hoping for another monolith of a chapter drop.

Let me be perfectly clear here: I am all for the monolithic chapter drops. This gives me time to enjoy the chapter I am reading. While I can do stories with the popcorn farts of chapters, their plus side being they generally come fast, I rather sit down and just enjoy a nice long chapter.
I see chapters of 900 words, chapter is done in about 4 minutes or less. I see a chapter of 20000 or more and I'm truly content with the world.
I don’t mind Samus going on a fetch quest to return to places she has already been to since that’s what the games were like for exploring new areas within the old areas you’ve been too.
Can’t wait!
Though I do like lengthy chapter, it is true that I don't have as much time as use to have to read.
So a 6k chapter is a good balance, though a 10k chapter from time to time is also okay.
Besides, I don't think I'll ever see a 40k chapter again, as it truly is a mouthful, even for a griping story.
