shhhhhhhhhhhh just breaking the site again don't mind me

very, very, very experimental fic continues its slow progress as the deadline for bicyclette's sci-fi contest draws near. these chapters are about on-par with what if in terms of length, but oh boy have they been an interesting experience to write.

hey hey btw i've got a (couple of) public minecraft server(s)!

yeah so anyway here is my webbed site lol. there's an MC Classic server for building whatever, and an MC Beta 1.7.3 server for playing survival. I might eventually also put up a modern vanilla server as well, though given how I'm hosting a bunch of servers already for friends and a couple of discord servers, idk if the little slab of a PC I'm using to host 'em all would be able to manage lol.

summer break is almost here :V

basically got one week left lol. got an experimental fic in the works that's a sort-of direct sequel picking off right where Splintershard ended. no prior reading is necessary.

MAN it's been a while since I've toyed with writing styles.

alrighty, because my interests have clearly moved onto other stories at this point, here's a poll for yall · 7:39pm Aug 3rd, 2023

so uh
i think it's pretty obvious that I haven't had any motivation to keep Ruins going for a while now.
and I guess splintershard too to an extent, but that story's near completion and I have a clear vision of how I'll wrap it up
pretty much my entire creative focus has since been turned over to working on my Fractures project.

so, I propose a number of ideas because with how short the run of Ruins has been, yeah. i don't think I could feasibly fast-track an ending for it like I did with pony-me or what I'm doing with splintershard.

  1. Finish Splintershard, finally cancel all other unfinished fics besides What If
  2. Finish Splintershard but leave everything else besides What If on hiatus to eventually be finished who-knows-when (essentially what's going on with Lab Horse: Redux and Wielder of the Orb: Third Time's the Charm'
  3. No changes (continue with updates at a glacial rate that's looking to be 1 or fewer updates per year on works such as Ruins, generally little to no new contents on anything else aside from the occasional chapter of what if that comes out every now and then until I'm smacked with a fleeting rush of motivation and start cranking out multiple what if chapters day after day again)

In all three cases, I feel like I'll most likely start a new story where I can import some ideas from Fractures over to an MLP setting so that yall still have some content being put out :P

tbh I find it a little funny how much this is reverse-mirroring how I started off on fimfic. My first story was exactly what I intend to do with Fractures now--imported ideas from an original fiction project, albeit labeled at the time as a "crossover" when there was no published content to actually crossover with. Back then, I roped myself into fanfics 'cause I wanted to improve my writing, and now with Fractures, I wanna rope myself back into fanfics again with a much more developed writing style.

I really wish I could tag more fics than just one but I'd imagine What If likely has the most reach for something like this. Regardless of which choice is picked the most, What If will keep updating as usual with its occasional chapters. Plus the likelihood of a sudden barrage of new chapters during the colder months I guess. That seems to be a recurring theme based on the chapter updates graph in its stats.

I think there should be no pressure on your creative process, especially when there's no money involved. You do you. I kinda struggled with it myself, updates on my fic are awfully sparse, but there is actually no obligation to your readers or the such. People will always find something to distract themselves with, there is no lack of content on the internet. Your creative process though is unique, and if you have a pull to something specific, then go do it

I haven't had any motivation to keep Ruins going for a while now.

it's bad...
Readers still occasionally asking for more... :-(
