With my quest/race to get a Rainbow S on all of Freedom Planet 2's stages, my creativity lit up like a bonfire again, and I started crafting an alternate ending of sorts for the past week.

Well, Maretime Bay is a beach town after all, so I think they are too use to being on the Beach 24/7, they don't find it fun anymore until Zipp and Misty solved this, I mean, I would too and find the beach boring if I live close to one, so on a heatwave, it must be another Tuesday
I mean the heat wave is Pretty Natural when it comes to Summertime especially at Florida it gets really hot over there and yeah when it comes to cold drink I'm sure Sunny will make so much money with that

Yeah. Glad Hitch was giving Sunny a lot more cooperation than Izzy was giving Pipp (though the latter was an argument where both of them had a point).
And, yeah, as the others, indeed, I would say the Earth Ponies didn't think about the beach because they were TOO used to it and the Pegasi (except for Zipp) and Unicorns didn't think of it because they weren't used enough to it.
Though, yeah, at least Misty was willing to listen to Zipp, which ultimately helped.
Remember, these episodes finished production last year, which means that the writers predicted the global heat wave months before it happened.
Move over Simpsons, we've got a new Precog on the block.
I've got some mixed feelings on this one. On one hand, this is the first time that I thought Zipp was genuinely being annoying. Like, sorry friends can't just drop everything to hang out with, it's not like they have jobs or anything.
On the other I do like Misty and Zipp as a duo so I'm happy to see more of it. And there were some good gags here (like Izzy stealing Pipp's fan).

I myself wasn't happy with this short. I mean, where I live on any given hot day the beach is crowded with people. And seeing the ponies not going to the beach all because of it being 'too hot' makes me feel just as angry as Zipp felt.
Is it just me, or do half the ponies in this episode make an ahegao face from the heat?
I mean, sure, sand can get pretty hot. But sand has poor heat retention, whereas asphalt and concrete can get hotter than the air temperature around it, so it's probably worse for them on the streets during a heat wave.
I spent half the episode wondering why Hitch was assisting Sunny at the smoothie stand instead of, you know, being the sheriff. But now that I think about it NYC (and probably other major cities) will set up cooling centers during heat waves for the elderly and people who don't have AC. So helping with cool treats is a way for Hitch to help the community. (Then again, a better way would be to get ahold of a large building with AC, stock up some water bottles, and welcome anypony in.
Speaking of which, ponies are buying smoothies to stay hydrated. Y'all know what water is, right?

That snow probably wouldn't last long in the heat, then you're probably looking at potential flooding issues.
I live in the midwest, so our heat, while not quite as bad as costal Florida in terms of sheer suffocating humidity, can be pretty wicked at times. This week for example hasn't seen a day under 90, even late at night.
A friday or two ago we had a massive storm roll through and as I was leaving work it felt like walking into a sodden wool blanket that just came out of the dryer.
As to the episode, yeah Pipps little remark about the end "omihoof someone should of suggested this..."

The impression I got is that the Frostyshivers incantation brought cold as well as snow. Sure, overdo it and you get too much precipitation, but the point would be to tone down the heat.
