Hey!
Long time no post. I'll keep the important part short and sweet. Compati is officially resuming. The whole of the story is written and tidied up, so no more issues with a posting schedule. I'll be posting every Monday and Friday, including today. A few things to note:
This has been the product of a long-overdue rush to get this story complete in time for the Everfree Northwest 2023 Bookstore! Compati and Into the Dark will be featured there, and I can't be more excited. The current projection of chapter posts sets completion of the story at around November-ish, so there's some incentive to get your hands on a copy while they're hot! They'll also be available on Ponyfeather Publishing whenever RBDash gets around to posting it.
In line with that, all the previously published chapters have been polished (yet again, I know, I know) to reflect my current writing standards, with the added bonus of absolutely gorgeous chapter header artwork, done by Smeows_isgood. Please go give her some love.
No story elements have been changed, but the writing is much, much better, and I both ask from an "I spent a lot of fukkin' time working on this" standpoint as well as an "it's been four years, y'all... a refresher would be smart" standpoint that I'd really appreciate it if you gave it the time.
On a sort-of unfortunate note, however, I have something important to say. With the continuation of this story, I am again beyond excited to finally show this to the world and see everyone's reactions and all the emotions and their corresponding reactions that us writer types subsist on. But Compati has grown so much beyond what the original story aimed for both in scope and magnitude of the characters and the conflict of the story. As the full story is posted, there will be comparisons drawn and messages mixed with that of the Abridged version—some intended, some not, but all of them realistically inevitable, and that's... not what I want from or to happen to the Abridged version. So all this is to say that I'll be unpublishing the Abridged version.
I won't delete it, because there's comments and what have you that I wouldn't want to see removed forever. To those of you who really enjoy the Abridged version, I'm sorry, but I'm just not comfortable with that sort of muddied water. If you really like the Abridged version, I can provide a password/link thing to it.
