It Is Recommendsday, My Dudes #163

Okay, so changing gears again-again. This time mostly because I have no time. This is one of those weeks where everything happens at once, and I've been positively hopping with how little free time I've got.

But that's no excuse not to talk about how absolutely cool stories are, and honestly I've made it this long without missing an update so I'm hardly going to start now.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program and my attempt to clean out my rookies shelf. (I've only got a few, I'm determined to at least catch up to this month with them.)

Okay, so there's still new people to get through but you gotta remember that this blog series is mostly reliant on my whims. And I'm a little bored on that front, so I'm gonna switch gears and do a different pair of stories. Because I can. Also because I was reminded of one of these stories this last week and they're pretty damn funny.

Probably the hardest genre to get right is mystery. Not only do you need to craft a solid narrative that fulfills all the requirements of a good drama or comedy (because without that it's just a trumped-up logic puzzle), but you also have to create that mystery itself. It can't be too obvious - otherwise why bother - but you also can't make it rely on bullshit and information the reader is never

It Is Recommendsday, My Dudes #159

So continuing down the road to clear out my new authors folder, I'm going to put the focus first on one of the newer folks I really like: pneu. They've got a couple of really good ones, but the one I'm settling on today is my favorite of theirs so far: Haycartes'

A minor self-indulgence · 3:10pm Apr 23rd, 2023

As mentioned in my last quarterly update, I hit 500 followers. With that I decided to splurge a little and finally buy my first merch. (Not the first I owned, mind you - I was gifted a Rainbow Dash key charm by Nailah a few months ago.)

Of course it's of Best Human/Best Pony.

The plush is an Olyfactory one I grabbed off eBay at a good price, while the pendant is from My Little Ties. (I'm probably going to put the pendant on my keychain - I'm not really one for worn jewelry.)

I suppose I finally have to admit a little fan-ishness. It has been almost four years here, after all.

Ooh! I think I have that one displayed on a shelf in one of my pony swag storage rooms.

Looks good.

Yay for buying merch! One more step towards being here forever. :pinkiecrazy: Good old Olyfactory. Sure they're knock-offs, but for the price they're pretty decent knock-offs! I have a Mailmare Derpy from them myself.

It’s so cute. And you’ve earned this, TCC56! 500 is a big milestone, after all.

Nice! Nothing like one's first Pony plush. :ajsmug: I have two expensive, solo-made ones of Applejack and Pinkie myself (the latter signed by Andrea Libman), along with a Britannia and official Sunny one, all picked up from UK Ponycons.

Logan is right, for a cheap knock-off, that's a pretty good plush!

Oh, and congrats at hitting 500 followers! :yay: Mighty impressive milestone, and one you've most assuredly earned, my friend! :pinkiehappy:

That's a fine Plushset Shimmer!

Solid purchasing choice! Best human/pony indeed.
