Another year older, another year grayer.

Things have settled into a routine for a while, but neither of them admits how dragging it is. The boredom and tedium of aging has started to wear them down.

After all, they saved the world multiple times, their businesses are incredibly successful, and all their friends and loved ones are happy, so why wouldn’t they be, too?

What is missing that makes them feel so hollow?

At least you still have your last friend in Ponyville.

The best part of your day.

And maybe, just maybe, she’s the answer to your emptiness.

To save her family and home, Applejack the Peasant would travel across Equestria through many hardships, even rescue a Princess from a dragon keep.

But now the journey back, that’s what she considered the problem.

After all, escorting Princess Rarity across the country safely would be nothing but a nuisance.

Because of course, A Princess and a Peasant could never get along.

And naturally, A Princess and a Peasant could never fall in love.

…But there’s a first time for everything.

(That’s right. I took the baseline of the story of Shrek 1 and I made it about Rarijack; And it’s glorious)

A friend of mine, (yaspup9000 on tumblr) is conceptualizing a "gen 6" of MLP, with her own take on old rebooted characters and stuff, and she told me she didn't want to reboot or recycle characters from gen 4, with the fears of seeming a bit too much like gen 5.

I respectfully disagreed. Since i've been helping inspire her to write her story, i had knowledge of her lore and characters, so i decided to write this short climax for her story just to show her what she's missing out, lmao. She loved it, even if might not use it, So i decided, hey, might as well post it!

So keep in mind, the characters are superfluous, i'm not trying that hard on this, i just wanted to write a scene i thought of; not provide a full story context, so it might feel a bit disjointed, and i'm fine with that! After all, the project isn't mine, it's hers.

And so, i took writing this sequence as practice! and i don't mind posting practice.

I just wanted to write my own take on these two meeting for the first time, specifically my own interpretation of them as anthros! (the body types matter) but if you want to imagine them as ponies, be my guest.

I have a lot of fun writing Rarity and Applejack as a pair, so this is just a short and quick scene of them meeting for the first time, heh. I've been writing a couple short things and thought i might as well post this one!

As a thank you, and upon seeing the potential in her, Twilight Sparkle has invited Sunset Shimmer to be a part of her team. Sunset has absolutely no idea what she's doing and she does not feel like she belongs; Whether if its from her regrets of trying to pursue power desperately and being corrupted by it, or her immense failure as Celestia's first pupil, or even her general inexperience with friendship, Sunset Shimmer has been humbled into nothingness, and has to rebuild her life from scratch.
And most complicated of all, Sunset Shimmer is now in love with Twilight Sparkle, the girl that changed her life for the better, and saved her from herself. She will keep these feelings extremely close to the chest; but her heart is on her sleeve now.

Can Sunset Shimmer improve? Can she be worthy and deserving of the friends that were imposed upon her? Could she possibly ever deserve to be side by side with a princess? Can she earn Twilight Sparkle's love?

Can she belong? Or is all of this temporary... And eventually she will have to move on, to anywhere more fitting of her insignificance? Are things destined to go wrong around her?
