The Wave Returns to the Ocean
All Alicorns had moved on a long time ago, returned to stardust, become just spirits without a physical form, they became a part of everything, and the world itself breathed with their memories.
It was a period of peace. There were no more battles to be fought, the world quietly moved on, accepting the Alicorns as legend, and honoring their legacy of love.
But not all were as content with their lives, there was one who considered this new status quo mediocrity. “Majesty” or so she called herself, was intent on not only bringing the Alicorns back, but becoming one herself. She had drained what remained of them out of everything she could, she joyfully caused pain and discomfort to others if she considered them inferior to her, after all, this was the birthright of one who would become an Alicorn…
And she did it. By draining their spirits and weakening the foundations of the world, she became one… But she wasn’t done yet. The next step was bringing the real Alicorns back. And although five friends attempted to stop her, Fizzy, Minty, Guava, Pepper and Clover, they were simply no match; they were not warriors, they were only denizens of this world attempting to fight for what’s right.
Fizzy especially had her stake; the Alicorn spirits wouldn’t let her rest. For some reason she could hear their plea, feel their feelings, even if she didn’t know why, and couldn’t understand them fully. And yet, what could she do?
Majesty cackled joyfully, her voice echoing on the ancient temple’s walls. She stood, spreading her wings, delighted at her victory.
“HOHOHOOOh What an admirable ragtag of failures you all were! You can’t stop the future; and the future is ME. And my people will soon follow! Alicorns will once again roam these lands and swab out rubes like yourselves!!”
The five friends laid defeated, unwilling to attempt to put on more of a fight. Majesty had overpowered them, and they were worried for their own lives if they tried more.
Majesty stood on a podium holding a key to it; an ancient device that seemed to ooze internal magic with proximity to the temple it was on. Runes followed up on walls and slowly began glowing, as if the entire temple was charged. Majesty placed the key on its pedestal and the entire surrounding area lit up, as if the temple was alive. All lights led to temple engravings on the opposite walls that resembled a door.
Majesty giddily skipped and hopped in place, with great expectations for those doors to open.
Guava coughed fraily, Not addressing Majesty, but her friends. “Well guys. We put up a good fight. That was something, right?”
Pepper frowned, on the floor. “We got our asses kicked, Guava.”
Clover interjected, trying to remain positive. “Hey, I think we did great! The best we could!!”
Minty only looked over her sister, tending to her wounds, nothing else mattered at that moment.
Majesty scoffed. “Could you idiots NOT ruin my moment of grandeur? I’m making HISTORY HERE!!” She said, raising her wings, then turned back to the big doors.
The five groaned, trying not to encore her wrath.
The massive temple wall shaped like a gigantic door lit up, and started opening, Behind it, Light and Cosmos, incomprehensible glow.
The entire room was lit now, the light bathed all of them. Minty touched foreheads with her sister, apologizing for having failed her. Fizzy tried so hard to avert disturbing the balance that all Alicorn spirits had set, but Majesty was simply too much for them.
Majesty giddily trotted over to the doors, raising her wings wide. “HOHOHOOO It’s time!! Welcome, welcome! To my world!!”
She talked at the open door, but nothing happened, the light continued to bathe the room.
“Umm. Hellooo? Alicorn friends?” She tilted her head.
Minty put her sister Fizzy on her back, and whispered to her friends. “Quick! While she’s distracted, we have to hide. Whatever comes out of that door won’t be good news.”
They cautiously and painfully tried moving, but before even making headway, Fizzy looked up at the door, and spoke, weakly, but with great clarity.
“...Sun”
A Red and Golden blur flew out of the great door and tackled Majesty in a split second with extreme force, pinning her on the ground, making the stones crack beneath them.
The 5 friends' jaws dropped as the impact was felt on the entire room. Above Majesty, pinning her down, stood an armored Alicorn, That glowed with Golden red, It seemed incorporeal, and yet, it was very much there. Her armor covered most of her body, including her armored razor sharp wings. Her long Red and yellow hair flowed down her helmet, as her eyes were glowing intently. She simply gazed down at majesty, with clear anger and hatred.
Pepper was dumbfounded. “Is that a…???”
Minty gasped. “That’s a Valkyrie…!”
Majesty barely muttered “How dare you–” Before the Armored Alicorn began stomping on her head furiously; Which was barely shielded with a barrier from Majesty, but it still hurt a LOT.
“I’M ONE OF YOU!” Majesty blasted the Valkyrie with a kinetic blast, one that the warrior blocked perfectly with her wings, and easily recovered in mid-air. The Golden Alicorn spun viciously, throwing Razor sharp armored feathers at Majesty, From her armor, sticking the landing perfectly.
Majesty tried hopping and blocking with magic but a couple of the feathers sliced her hide, and she felt it. She was not used to pain or discomfort.
Minty hurried her friends onto one of the walls of the room, So they could take cover from the ensuing conflict.
Majesty snarled. “How DARE you!!” She was now fully ready to fight, and started blasting the Valkyrie with magic. The warrior swiftly and acrobatically dodge every attack, making a fool out of her.
“Stand STILL you worthless–” The Valkyrie teleported right next to her, and bucked her with extreme strength at a column, cracking it.
The White Alicorn coughed and sputtered, feeling painful sensations she never had before. She got back up, and lit her horn up, intent on fencing against the Valkyrie. “E-en guarde, you!!”
The Valkyrie lit up her horn and tilted her head, waiting for her to make the first move. If Majesty didn’t know better, she’d think she was being teased.
Majesty got her ass handed to in fencing, too. She could not land a single hit, and the Valkyrie made a mockery out of her, constantly retreating despite having kill shots, just to let Majesty think she could get a hit in, only to be overpowered once more.
Just as she was getting foul mouthed at the Valkyrie, the pompous Alicorn got kicked into the center of the room, rolling.
The warrior landed in front of her, and raised her wings, menacingly, as if commanding Majesty to yield. The pompous Alicorn scoffed at her, intent on fighting more, But that's when the surrounding area got really, REALLY hot. The stone surrounding the Valkyrie started melting As her red glow intensified tremendously, fiercer than a burning sun.
That’s when Majesty realized how bad this was for her. She surrendered.
“Alright alright i YIELD!!”
The Valkyrie put her wings down, and the heat stopped. She then approached Majesty and grabbed her by fierce headlock, easily subduing her, and pointing her at the door of light before them. The pompous Alicorn could barely muster complaints.
Fizzy pointed at the light door and spoke once more.
“...Moon”
A beautiful Alicorn of the night with long smooth hair and purple glow stepped through the portal. She wore a tall crown with seven multicolored gems, and her hair had magenta streaks. Her entire body glowed powerfully with a magenta and purple haze, and she wore a beautiful dress with stars adorned in it, as She walked directly towards the Valkyrie and Majesty.
Clover couldn’t help but comment. “That’s not just a princess… That’s a queen!” And then his friends shushed him.
The five friends watched in quiet awe as the beautiful Alicorn approached and looked down on Majesty, who was held fiercely by the Valkyrie. The pompous Alicorn couldn't even mumble a complaint, utterly intimidated.
The Queen looked down on Majesty, And her own horn started glowing more and more, until majesty was blasted with its light.
Majesty’s horn and wings faded away, Stripping her of her powers, fizzling and exploding in a blast of magical waves that reverberated through the room, and so, the Valkyrie dropped her.
All the magic that flowed through the room seemed to take the shape of other Alicorn spirits of many colors, that all joyfully took flight around the room, returning to the door of light, free once more; a rainbow hue of mixing and matching colors flowed through the air.
The room was flooded with them, who all soared with glee. One of them landed in front of Fizzy and waved, and she waved back with a smile.
And soon, all the cheerful and free spirits had flown through the room crossed the gate of light, disappearing into it.
The only ones that remained were the Alicorn queen and her Valkyrie, who regarded only each other, ignoring all that happened around them.
Majesty quickly patted the empty spot on her forehead and then patted her own back. “My-y-y horn!! My beautiful WINGS!!! Who do you think you are? How DARE YOU, YOU WICKED–”
The Valkyrie turned and glared at her with an intense gaze. Majesty understood the message immediately.
Shut up, or I will kill you.
Majesty immediately quietly mumbled. “Ah, yes, discretion is a better part of valor. Goodbye!” and tried running scared, But was immediately stopped by the 5 friends. Pepper cracked her knuckles menacingly. “Where do you think you’re going?”
Clover cheerfully added “Look who’s out of fancy tricks!”
Before Majesty could stammer and mumble, Fizzy pointed at the Alicorn couple.
“Night and Day… United once more… Moon and Stars, and her Sun.”
The Beautiful cosmic figures Looked at the 5 friends silently. Guava whispered nervously. “Should we bow? I think we should bow.”
But before they could do anything, the Alicorn couple each raised a wing on their side, and they bowed together, at the 5 friends, who remained dumbfounded. These two Alicorn rulers showed them a reverence they never even dreamed of.
And then, The Alicorn couple turned towards each other, ignoring everything else, regarding each other with adoration.
They pressed their foreheads together, and embraced each other with their wings. Upon looking from afar, it was as if the golden red and Magenta purple fused together.
The Purple Alicorn nodded towards the door of light, trying to pull the Valkyrie with her, who resisted. She attempted to pull again, and the warrior just held her.
She wanted to remain in that embrace a little while longer.
The Valkyrie pulled her for a passionate kiss that changed the hue of the room. They both embraced each other, as if they had waited centuries to do so, maybe longer, a return to corporeality to allow everything to be just right, one last time.
With the kiss, it was as if their colors interchanged, expanded, wavered and shined.
Majesty scoffed. “I’m going to be sick.”
Guava slapped her with her wing, trying to make as little noise as possible. “Shut UP dumbass!! Quiet!!”
They all regarded the scene, stunned. Fizzy couldn’t help but giggle a little, as if she could feel their love, or hear their thoughts for each other.
And at last, the kiss stopped, and they just touched their foreheads while gazing at each other.
It was time to go.
The Two glowing Alicorns walked together towards the threshold of the door of light, embracing each other with their wings and leaning their heads together the entire way.
They vanished in the light, together, and as the doors closed, all of the light in the room faded, the temple becoming silent once more.
“Who in the world were those two…?” Guava pondered.
Fizzy smiled joyfully. “Twilight Sparkle and Sunset Shimmer. The rulers of night and day.”
Majesty sighed, exhaustedly. “So all I've done was for nothing…”
Fizzy interjected, still happy. “No. Not nothing. They got to kiss one last time… That’s something.”
The five friends embraced each other for having survived such an ordeal. Fizzy seemed especially happy, as if she could feel all the Alicorns now at peace. The world could breathe again, and so could everyone.
And, despite everything, two lovers got to kiss one last time.
