I had dreaded that Applejack's seemingly easy way with duplicity might have caused a greater doubt in Fluttershy's mind, so I'm glad they got over that quickly. Poor Marmie, though.
Even when I hafta make 'em myself. It forces me to let a thing go and move on. 'Cause otherwise, I'd keep fiddling and fiddling and never get anything done at all.
Heh, I know how it feels. I've been meaning to write down the story in my head for about two years now. Never got around to actually starting it. Probably should someday, but music is such an alluring thing too :3
Are "Igneous," all volcanic explosions and flows of lava. Applejack's are "Sedimentary" with layer after layer needing to be navigated. So Fluttershy's sections are more obviously unpleasant while Applejack's are trickier. Or something...
That's... surprisingly chilling. She spent so many years trying to convince herself that she loved her life, and her children, and her aging past youth and slowing down, she may have even had children to convince herself that she made the right decisions in life. When she got too worn down to deny how much she hated all that, she realized how much she'd been lying to herself pretending to love, and couldn't stand to do it anymore. So when her family loved her back, she just saw herself in them, and since her love was a lie, she could only see their love as a lie to cover up an unfortunate truth. Anyone who looks like they are loving is more horrible to Marmalade than one who hates her, because the former hate her but are also trying to deceive her. I wonder how many years she endured before she snapped, sure that nobody loved her and her husband and children were hateful liars just leading her on. Every time they said "I love you" it must have broken her heart...
Which is doubly ironic, because she loves them so much it'd kill her to think they were lying to her.
I really wanted to do with this series was come up with reasons for Applejack's parents to be gone but not dead. I then got to tie those reasons in to AJ and Fluttershy's growing relationship so that AJ could see her parents as an example of how not to do things, and that's always nice to be able to do.
Chapter 8:
"Sedimentary: Shale," should be here March 18th.

This, is once again a great chapter. March 18th you say? I'll keep an eye out.

I like to have deadlines:
Even when I hafta make 'em myself. It forces me to let a thing go and move on. 'Cause otherwise, I'd keep fiddling and fiddling and never get anything done at all.

Applejack's actions at the end of "Granite" will have consequences in "Shale." If I can pull the scene off correctly...

Thanks! This sex-n-romance stuff isn't the sort of "light adventure" I usually write, so I'm having fun with it.

My god this was so hard to read.

One of the several things:
