As his hoof met the shutter lever, a bright green flash erupted from the deep blue, striking the giant grouper. The fish, once alive and moving vibrantly, shuddered, then stopped moving. Much to Tide Pool's surprise, it began to rise.
Is the green flash meant to be some sort of blast that instantly kills when it hits?
"Oh yeah, about a dozen of them. It was so cool!" The beige colt exclaimed loudly. "One of them even breached!"
I just read the first chapter, loved it. You do a great job describing the wonders of diving. The excitement of seeing something as great as a whale. I have a certificate myself and although I don't use it as much as I should I've experienced some fantastic moments underwater. The first chapter brought back a lot of great memories :).
Never seen anything like this mystery creature though. Curious to see where that goes.
This is going to be interesting
reminds me of the monster from the film Sweetheart

A breach is when a whale "jumps" out of the water.
First thing that came to my mind was the Sea Emperor Leviathan.
Idk y tho
