Once I drew an image which I got frustrated with. Then I marred it with some additional lines and called it "The Destruction" to cover up my embarrassment. Reading the epilogue reminded me of this story. I'm left with the feeling that Tio didn't know how to do a proper finish and covered it up with flipping the readers off. As Journey does tie into Nightmare, it might have an actual satisfying answer, but until then I can't help to feel betrayed. It is sad that I end this story with such a comment.
Okay, this explains more than a few stuff in Journey. And damn if you didn't come up with an interesting verse here. It of course leaves even more questions since you've left a lot unsaid in the epilogue. But it's been a great ride till now. It's odd that I only just watched a video today on the theory of the Mane Six and the ponies from the Hearth's Warming Tale being the same and now this chapter
Interesting ending
Well, you warned that there will be no good ending, but damn that was dark
Now Journey also have more context, though. Are you going to concentrate your efforts on it next?

That's the idea.
God I love dark endings and well I may not have liked the "fight" with nightmare this made up for it

Ohh well, that was an interesting story .
I finished it only after reading Journey to a point, but now Journey makes more sense.
The ending was very tragic, but not unexpected.
I mean : I did not expect them to be able to kill the Nightmare after tjey failed to do so in direct sunlight, so this solution seemed to be the only way.
Everything else is nust a konsequenc of.
This just leaves me wondering, just what will happen in the unwritten chapters of Journey, and if the Teemos will ever meet. That would be something.
Thank you for writing this!
Kinda disappointed there were at least two plot threads never tied up.
1) Luna's comment about how much being Blue Light's mother meant to Celestia.
2) Twilight's maybe-crush. Wasn't that something Blue Light told Rarity he'd discuss with Twilight once the whole Nightmare situation was dealt with? We don't see any of it?
After having read Journey, especially the latest Intermission regarding Auras foal napping and in particular the culprit, it really did become a necessity more or less for me to read 'nightmare', most importantly the last chapter of that story and it's epilogue.
So the enemy they are dealing with in "Journey" is another Timo/Blue Light from an alternate universe, who has gone down the deep end partially thanks the the nightmare he had to contain inside himself.
And most of everyone else existing in journey are the internal 'in-universe' incarnations of that particular twig of a branch of alternate universe.
At least that gives a little bit more insight to the, I have to say, very confusing recent events in 'Journey'.
Even though it was said, that it isn't required to have read 'nightmare' to understand 'journey', I'd still recommend whoever has read Journey till "Act 23.1", to also read 'nightmare', or at the very least the last two chapters (most importantly the epilogue, though).
