After stealing the Crucible Dr. Samuel Hayden sends the Doom Marine somewhere he can't interfere. Neither of them expected that place to be Equestria. Or that demons would show up there too. The ponies are about to see a lot of ripping and tearing.
One stood, he chose the path of perpetual torment. In his ravenous hatred he found no peace, and with boiling blood he scowled the umbral plains seeking vengeance to the dark lords who had rocked him. and to those that tasted the bite of his sword, they named him…doom slayer
8083666 I'm assuming you mean the runes, specifically the Rich Get Richer rune? Yeah, can I see how it would be a bit awkward, but the ammo conservation will actually play a role later.
a bit annoyed at having to switch out his Armored Offensive rune for In-Flight Mobility
Frankly Armored Offensive isn't all that great compared to Equipment Power. Assuming you have gotten both runes to the 2nd level, with Equipment Power the Siphon grenade rebuilds armor as well as health. This means you have a way to gain breathing room, whereas Armored Offensive requires you to glory kill in order to gain armor. Equipment items regenerate fairly quickly once you've upgrades the suit, so running low isn't really a thing to worry about.
8083170 There's some contention about that. What is or is not cannon is kinda up for debate. Doomguy (from DOOM and DOOM II) is "you" the player. It was supposed to be immersive. You have a quick backstory and then you're into it. It's kinda the same for DOOM 2016, but they went with multiple realities of Doomslayers. Ultimately I choose to believe that DOOM, DOOM II and DOOM 2016 all have the same protagonist.
8083843 Oh really? I haven't played to the point where you get the Siphon Grenade yet (I can only play the game at a friends house), so I thought it only recovered health.
8083919 Once you upgrade Equipment Power (by using equipment items) Siphon grenades heal armor if your health is full. Pairing it up with Rich Get Richer 2 is great. The only argument against it is that you can kill all except one big demon (usually something like a Mancubus) and then farm it for health and armor, without taking on the risk of performing a glory kill. Some people consider this to be against the spirit of the game, but on Nightmare and Ultra Nightmare I will take every scrap of help I can get.
8083968 I see. Most of the playthroughs I've watched they barely even use the equipment, and when they do its usually frag, so I never saw that mechanic. Looks like my research wasn't thorough enough. Still, I think the Armored Offensive setup is good if you're going to use Plasma Rifle/Stun Bomb.
Does the Siphon Grenade setup work on all enemies? Including bosses? If so, I may need to make a few changes to the final battle here.
8083996 Yeah. Siphon grenades work on all enemies so they're how I get infinite plasma and chaingun during bossfights, unless I'm exploiting the BFG's mechanics.
any one else get that feeling of pure badassery when it comes to moments like the ending of this chapter. back to reality here I love the story so far and I think you are doing great so far just keep it up and you'll have one epic fanfic here
8084031 Alright, I thought I'd ask you for some advice because I'm about to write a boss fight. What runes would you choose, as I'm currently having him equip Equipment Power and Rich Get Richer. I can't decide for the third one.
The creature turned its head to cast a glance at him before audibly sighing. Stalwart tensed when the creature unfolded its arms and reached over to the stallion, only to pat his head like he was an annoying dog who was begging for attention. It then quickly folded its arms and continued to look straight ahead.
Further points awarded, good interaction between Doom Slayer and cute creatures. Similar to how he fist bumps the statues of himself in game, the Slayer is shown to appreciate cute things. Note, the original Doom Guy had a pet bunny named Daisy, and the demon's killed it, leading to a large portion of his anger.
Well what do you know? They’re not all pussies after all
Minor foul, the Doom Slayer had a voice. Albeit, such a minor line and only in thought probably didn't bother too many people, for me any form of the Doom Slayer expressing a voice is a no go. He speaks only through action, and it's better that way because he's meant to be something for the player (or reader as the case may be) to slip into. His personality is simple and he never speaks so that as many people as possible can relate to him.
Also, I realized why the fight scenes are a bit grating to me. Good ol' wall o' text syndrome. I found myself skimming them because it was such a pain to actually read such a massive paragraph, no matter how full of baddassitude it was. Give those bad boys some breathing room and you're good to go. If you're wondering how, find points where the Slayer transitions from one action or demon to another, and start breaking them up there. Maybe move things around a bit for better flow if you must.
9327608 The phrase being italicized was meant to show that it was a thought. Also, in case you just skimmed that part, it even says that it was a thought of The Slayer's.
My favorite fan-made Doom song is 'Fight Like Hell' by JT. Machinima...
8083096 If you mean the song in the most recent chapter, that one's actually from the game.
Fight Like Hell is pretty good, but my favorite will be showing up in the next chapter. Hopefully I won't make you guys wait too long for that.
This makes me so happy.
True One: I already heard bout the Highway to Hell, but a Railroad that brings hell? That's new.
Wait, I thought the name of the protagonist of Doom was named Doomguy.
8083170 He has many names.
One stood, he chose the path of perpetual torment. In his ravenous hatred he found no peace, and with boiling blood he scowled the umbral plains seeking vengeance to the dark lords who had rocked him.
and to those that tasted the bite of his sword, they named him…doom slayer
Enjoy
And to stay in the mood until the next chapter arrives, here´s some Snapmap mlp action:
It's a bit strange from a narrative perspective that you included gameplay mecanics into the narrative of the story.
This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen

8083597 So... An Equestria Girls snap map, with the first part being some creepy, atmospheric haunted school thing?
... I can dig it.

8084031 Alright then. Glad you told me.
I'm really liking the story so far. Continue with your work and good luck!

BFG Division better be playing when Doom Slayer slaughters his way through Canterlot. That's all I'm saying.
8084098 Please update, this is honestly one of the better DoomFics out there
This story is amazing please update
When is the next chapter coming out?
This is pretty good
