I'm getting a bad vibe, even if the leader is taken out, many of the leading ponies express quite the brainwashed attitudes. Though I imagine there may be people who genuinely feel that doing the environment a service is an improvement.
Getting lots of glimpses into alternative ways to handle society though. I don't think highly of Unicorn power generators operating all the time (or even in shifts) though, it reminds me too much of the Industrial Revolution with assembly lines, each people doing a single mind-numbing task because it was 'efficient'.
6170815 Why kill what you can convert?
6170868 I was about to say the same, they are a methodical faction of zealots who know logically killing them is more waste of resources compared to having them converted to your side. Why have a pit of dead bodies when you can have a increasing supply of newly converted ponies that can work and mate to increase your society and armies.
welcome to The Conversion Bureau
6170982 And Chatoyance is their leader.
1.no ones choices should be taken from them they were force 2. the South Americans may not kill the humans but trying to genocide a whole species by mutating them into ponies just so they are not "wasted" or something like that but at end of the day they are no better then slavers and rapers of choices and sure human are not all rainbows and flowers but must people never said we were perfect like the South Americans new pony society are declaring to be watch they are not
They seem to have a Conversion Bureau *CoughNAZIISMCOUGH* kind of outlook. I look forward to how this will turn out.
making peace is not going to be easy at all.
Burn these TCB-esque ponies. Burn them with nukes and napalm and fire and death.
6172648 Now now, don't be the animal they claim you are.
While these ponies are definitely creepy zealots, they aren't complete idiots. Just as Will has managed to learn a lot about how the Gift works and how it can be shaped, it would seem that these ponies have developed magical skills and knowledge of their own. Figuring out how to convert unicorn power into energy couldn't have been simple. I expect their leader to be an interesting character.
This isn't an easy situation at all. These genocidal ponies need to be stopped (especially since they fully intend to invade America and cause widespread devastation), yet they seem to be genuine believers in the ideology. Deposing their leader won't stop this civilization cleanly. If Will doesn't want to start a war, he's going to have to appeal to their Leader in some way (or use his telepathy powers to mind control them for the greater good). It's going to be tough no matter what, and I'm very interested in seeing what will happen.
Either way, I think Will should take notes. A lot of their technology could be useful back in America, like the unicorn batteries.

Maybe it wouldn't be too bad if you put a TV in front of them or something.
If it isn't too mentally taxing (which it doesn't appear to be, here, since that unicorn was talking while he was being drained), a unicorn could just sit there snacking and watching movies while providing energy.
Hmm. Well, they clearly have some good ideas mixed in the vitriol and propaganda. The catch will be disentangling it all, if that can even be done. Still, there is more than just hatred here. There is purpose. If that purpose could be channeled towards coexistence... Well, we'll have to see how royal-to-royal negotiations go.
A decrease in both necessary skill and needed number of workers will cause a decrease in number of employed people and a decrease in the market value of the provided service. In fact, free food and keeping the power going may be enough to make people work without pay.
Existing jobs will either become more efficient because of or be unaffected by by ponies. This does not indicate a job for every pony. It indicates a decrease in pre-existing jobs. New jobs will be created due to new available workforce, but that just makes this just like every other advancement in technology. Efficiency increases are not new. Welcome to assembly lines in 18xx-19xx-whenever.
While no oil is used, the massive increase in food demand will overfarm the land. Since it doesn't exist, magical overfarming could have any set of consequences, but a very dusty country seems like the most obvious option.
Typo
6323476 Fixed, thanks!
