The Hero of Time in Equestria

Fire temple

Link drinks the remainder of his Romani ranch milk. "Can you continue?" Rainbow dash eagerly asked Link when he finished an apple he was given. He looks over to Rarity, she had stopped sobbing and was now comfortably sitting on the sofa she had magically brought in. Link had apologized and was now wearing his rupee encrusted tunic. It wasn't heavier than before but the rupees did make it look very fancy. He apologized again when he said he couldn't pay her back, she said, "It's fine darling, for a friend it's free." Link smiled at her and took a deep breath before continuing.

Link checked his adult wallet, which he had acquired after hunting down ten gold Skulltulas and freeing yet another man from the curse he was under. ["There's no such thing as a curse Link." Twilight sparkle said, her quill dipping into the inkwell. "Yeah curses are fake." Rainbow dash agreed, "Nothin' but superstition." Applejack added. "Wait girls, he did come from a different world filled with monsters." Pinkie pie said looking at the others seriously for once. "Pinkie's right, Ganondorf cursed an entire family to look like mutated Skulltulas, they were about the same size as a Skulltula but part of the shell was the cursed one's face. One of the legs was still an arm with the hand and the mouth opened up where the spider's neck should be." Link said sharing a shudder with all in the room.]

200 rupees, that was what he had found in some of the chests in the Forest temple. "I can help Epona now." Link said to himself as he put his wallet away and began walking away from the Kakariko village and towards the Ranch. "Link, we should hurry, there's no telling what Ganondorf's up to." Navi said while following close behind Link. He arrives and walks into the stables again, ["Oh you wanted to see your special somepony again, did you ask her to marry you? Did you confess your love to her?" Rarity cut in making Link blush, "No she's just a friend." he managed before Rarity spoke again, "That's how they all start, just friends then you begin to fall in love with each other." she swoons, dramatically deepening Link's blush. The other mares giggle, besides Rainbow dash who groaned, "Just let him continue... But, if there's any mushy stuff please skip it." she said lightening Link's blush slightly. "There isn't any mushy stuff. But I'll skip some of the more gruesome parts."]

Link enters the stable, closing the door behind himself. Malon turns to Link when he enters, "Hi Link, it's good to see you're doing well." She smiles at him, he blushes and scratches the back of his head, "Hi Malon... I came to say hi and to get Epona out of here." she sadly looked out to Epona. "This isn't the same ranch. Please Link if you plan on leaving take Epona, she likes you almost as much she likes me." she said looking Link directly in the eyes. He promised he'd take Epona out of this ranch and with that promise he left the stable to confront Ingo. "Oh back again? I hope you brought money with you this time." he said angrily. Link walks up to him, "Yes I brought money." Ingo smirks, "Good, it's ten rupees for one minute." He chuckles to himself

Link pulls out two blue rupees and hands it over. Ingo laughs and takes the money before opening the gate. Allowing Link inside, "Your time starts now." the gate closes. Link wastes no time, he runs up to Epona but when he came close Epona ran away. Link stops running, having wasted half his time already. "Come on Epona, I'm here to get you out!" he shouts at the horse as Ingo enters chuckling, "Time's up, now get out or pay for another minute." Link pays him another ten rupees, "Here you go." He takes it and leaves. Link tries chasing Epona again, failing. His time ended two more times before he thought of using his Ocarina. "Why didn't I do this in the first place?" he facepalms and pays for a third minute. This time he slowly walks toward Epona and raises the Ocarina to his lips.

Epona whinnies and trots towards Link, he smiles and pets Epona before climbing onto the saddle mounted on her back. He pats her neck before she began galloping. Link yells and tries to stay on Epona's back, he grabs the reins and pulls back on them. Epona rears back and flails her front hooves before settling down with Link patting her neck, "It's okay, Epona calm down. Everything's okay." Epona begins grazing Link smiles and snaps the reins making Epona gallop again. This time Link has control, he rides Epona around a few times before Ingo walks in, "You have some skill. How about we have a race? If you lose you have to pay me fifty rupees." he said, Link agrees. Ingo opens the gate and mounts a horse, riding it onto the racetrack outside with Link following.

Malon stands to the side of our horses and counts down, "3... 2...1...Go!" as she counted down Ingo raised his left arm while shouting, "Woah!" They rocket off, Epona easily passing Ingo's horse. They round the final bend with Epona leading. After Ingo passes the finish line in last place he grips his head and starts shaking his head, "How could I lose! The Great Ganondorf will not be pleased!" He regains his composure and shouts at Link, "You! Let's have another race if you win, I'll let you keep the horse!" Link smiles and nods. They saddle up and Ingo shouts again as the race begins again. This time Ingo keeps up with Link by kicking his horse to make it speed up. Link watches as Ingo keeps kicking his horse to keep up, "What are you doing!?" He and Malon yell as they round the final turn, Ingo stays focused on the finish line, "I can't let you win!" He yelled and continued kicking his horse.

Link snaps his reins to make Epona pull ahead, Ingo digs his heels into his horse making it whinny. Link stays ahead and finishes first. Ingo grabs his head and starts shaking it in anger, "How could I be beaten!? Is that Epona!?" he regains his composure again and closes the gate to the exit, "No matter, I will not let you leave here with that horse." Malon had run over to the horse and began tending to it's injured legs, Link looks at Malon then back to Ingo. "You don't deserve this Ranch." He turns Epona and charges towards a wall, Epona jumps it and lands in Hyrule field. He looks back and hears Ingo yelling, "Nooo!" Epona whinnies and rears back before galloping off towards Kakariko village and Death mountain. ["Oh. My. Is that poor pony alright?" Fluttershy asks. Link nods, "He's fine, Malon helped him make a full recovery." He smiles reassuringly calming her down.]

Link dismounted Epona at the base of the steps and she galloped away. Link knew she would come if he called. He climbed the stairs to find Death mountain had erupted and the buildings were on fire with fireballs raining from the sky. The burning buildings shocked him but not as much as the noise he heard, a dragon's roar. "Volvagia." he said under his breath. Navi flutters around Link's vision, forcing him out of his memories, "Link! We have to do something!" Link nods and plays the song he had learned from the man in the windmill. The sky was filled with storm clouds and the rain fell, putting the fires out. The residents of Kakariko thanked Link for putting the flames out, but he ignored them as he walked to the road leading to Death mountain, a single thought on his mind, Was that him?

Link ascends the mountain, dodging large boulders instead of rolling Gorons. He arrives at the entrance to the Goron city, the posts along the sides of the cave were cracked and the writing illegible. "What happened here?" Link wondered aloud as he entered. Link's footsteps echoed throughout the large cavern once filled with it's Goron inhabitants was now empty. "Where is everyone?" Navi asked as she escaped Link's hat and flew a few feet away. Link turns his head as he examines the cave; the only things out of place were the large deep scars in the walls in rows of three all around the cave. Link takes a closer look at them. He heard a loud grumbling and on instinct drew his sword and turned towards the sound to see a lone Goron rolling towards him. Link relaxes and sheathes the holy blade, "Hello where are-" Link began before the Goron hit him and rolled over his prone body. Link sits up growling, "Watch where you're going!" He yelled and began chasing the Goron, yelling at him to stop rolling so they could talk.

The Goron ignored Link and kept rolling. Link stopped chasing him and waited, watching the Goron roll towards him. He didn't wait for the Goron to run him over again and placed a bomb on the floor before taking a few steps away. The Goron rolls into the bomb as it explodes. ["Wait, you blew him up!?" the mares, and dragon, asked together. Link nodded, "Don't worry. A Goron's skin is harder than rock, it stopped him but didn't hurt him." The mares look at each other unconvinced. Link sees this and speaks, "I've been a Goron and as a Goron I walked through lava, it felt like a hot spring." the equines jaws drop while Spike nods, "Lava is really warm." Rainbow dash was the first to snap out of the stupor, "Keep going Link."] The Goron bounces up before landing and he yells from his position, "Don't come any closer! I am the Goron's hero Link! Who killed the Dodongo! Goro."

Link takes a step back in shock while Navi voices his thoughts, "Link, they named a Goron after you!" Link's mouth opened and closed but he couldn't get any sound out. The Goron speaks again, "Your name is Link? Could you be the Link!? Goro" He raises from his balled up position to stare at Link. "It is you!" He quickly stands up and shakes Link's hand very hard, "It's an honor to meet you Link! You know my father Darunia named me after you, his closest friend... Can I have your autograph? Goro." he added. Link cringed as the Goron nearly broke his hand from the shake. "Thank you... Link, but can you tell me what happened here?" Link asked, nursing his throbbing hand. Goron Link frowns and sadly looks at the empty cave.

"The dark lord Ganondorf has revived the cursed dragon, Volvagia." he said shocking Link who just repeated the name, "Volvagia." Goron Link nods, "Yes the evil Volvagia, the dragon abducted every Goron besides me and my father. Goro." Link starts muttering to himself, "No, no, Volvagia is a good dragon, he wouldn't do that, He couldn't do that." Link tries to convince himself that it couldn't be his Volvagia but his thoughts were interrupted by the other Link, "But now that you're here you can save the Gorons and kill that dragon! Here take this, the dragon is hiding in the center of Death mountain, this'll keep you from burning up. Goro." he said cheerily before handing Link the Goron Tunic. ["Wait, how could a different 'tunic' keep you from burning?" Twilight asked, "Yes, how can it do that?" Rarity added. Link scratched his head, "Well it's magic, that's about as much as I know." they nod, still not understanding well but knowing they won't get more information.]

Link dons the tunic and thanks the Goron who tells Link where the entrance to the Fire temple was. "Behind the statue in Darunia's quarters." Navi recited Link's directions. Link pulls on the statue, and it easily slides away from the wall revealing a passage.

The passage led to the center of the volcano. Even though he was wearing the Goron Tunic he could still feel the heat from the lava. Link walks towards a wooden bridge, "How is this not on fire?" He asked himself as Navi answered from inside his hat, "I'm not sure, but it's too hot for me to get out." Link nods and sees that the bridge is broken but there is a convenient log placed above the other side of the bridge. Link pulls out his hookshot and launches it at the log, which pulls him over to it. He lands on the bridge and continues down the bridge when he sees Sheik drop down in front of him. "It is something that grows over time... a true Friendship."

"A feeling in the heart that grows over time. The passion of friendship will blossom into a righteous power and through it you will know which way to go. This song is dedicated to the power of the heart, listen to the Bolero of fire. Link. I'll see you again." he takes a step back, Link runs forward to try and catch up but a wall of fire blocks him. Sheik steps back and throws a Deku nut at the floor, disappearing in a flash. When the flash was gone, so was the fire and Sheik. Link continues walking, "Who is that guy?" he said aloud before he saw a tunnel, he walks towards it.

Link walks down the tunnel. Link searches the walls around before continuing on towards the Fire temple farther down the tunnel. Link enters the temple, three large statues stand tall above a flight of steps, there are burning keese flying around flying into torches and past each other. ["What's a Keese?" Fluttershy asks, "It's a bat." Fluttershy gasps, "They were burning?" Link nods, "Keese can't burn, they light themselves on fire by going through an open flame, they don't get hurt but if they attack you they can light you on fire." Fluttershy still looks nervous while Rainbow dash exclaims, "That's so cool!" Link shakes his head, "Not when you're being attacked."]

Link runs up the steps, slicing the Keese in two as they charge him. There were two doors, one locked the other unlocked. Link runs to the unlocked one and opens it to enter a cavern with the same large door with the big lock and standing in front of it was Darunia, the Goron leader. "Who's there? Is that you Link?" Darunia looks across the room to Link, "It is you Link! You've grown so big since the last time I saw you!" He laughed before returning to his serious tone. "I'd like to have a man-to-man chat with you but Ganondorf has revived the evil dragon. He plans to feed my people to it as an example for those who resist."

"If that dragon is released, all of Hyrule will become a burning waste. I'm going to try and seal the evil dragon, but I'm concerned. I don't have the legendary hammer but I have no choice. Please Link as my sworn brother." he continued, "Save my people, the cells are in the opposite direction. I'm counting on you Link." he said before entering the locked room. Link salutes and takes the time to examine the room, the bottom was covered in lava and there were pillars rising along the left and right sides of the platform he was on. Hanging above his head in the center of the room was a large stone, red from the heat of being in the lava. Link looked to his right, a raised platform with pots, to his left, a cage with a switch on the outside.

Link carefully jumps across the pillars to reach the cell, inside there was a shaking Goron. Link stepped on the switch and released the scared Goron who rose as the bars slid open. "You're letting me go? Thank you, I'll let you in on a secret, the Gorons' special crop makes a different sound when you hit it." The Goron said before walking past Link and leaving the place, Link looks back at the cell and sees a small chest, he walks up to it and kicks it open. Inside was a small key, "Maybe this opens the door on the other side." Link said aloud before Navi spoke up, "What is it Link?" she inquired, "It's just a key Navi. I think it opens the locked door on the other side of the room."
"Let's go try it!" Navi said her voice muffled slightly from being under Link's hat.

Link exits the room and runs across the room to the locked door. The key fit. Link opened the door and continued. ["I have to skip over the puzzles, but don't worry I saved all the Gorons." Link assured before continuing]

Link pulls out the Megaton hammer and slams it against the top of the large pillar above the room with the dungeon master, "Haaah!" the pillar shakes shortly before falling with Link still on top. The pillar hits the center of the room and sinks down until the top was even with the large locked door. "Volvagia." Link mutters before jumping onto the platform with the door. He opens it and walks inside, there was a large circular rock with several lava filled holes. Link walks down a ramp that led to it, he stopped when he heard crumbling. Looking back he saw the ramp was being destroyed so he ran down the rest of the ramp, jumping the last few feet.

He rolls as he lands and rises with the momentum. He looks around for the evil dragon, Volvagia. He was disappointed that his friend wasn't here. He turned around and heard a loud deafening roar, he fell to the ground covering his ears to try and stop the pain. When the roaring ceased a very long red dragon landed on the other side of the circle. Link draws his bow but hesitates to shoot as he stares down the dragon. "Link! Shoot now, shoot the arrow now!" Link's arm shakes from the tension it was holding but he didn't shoot. "What is he doing!?" Navi whispered as the dragon charged at Link mouth gaping. "Link watch out!" Navi said snapping Link out of his memories.

The dragon stops close to Link as it releases it's flaming breath, which would've burnt Link to a crisp if he wasn't wearing the Goron tunic. The flames pushed Link towards the edge of the platform, his foot slipped on the edge and he fell headfirst towards the lava. He passed out from his burns hearing Navi yelling his name. Link wakes up in a smaller cave than the one he was in. He could hear Sheik's harp playing the Bolero of fire, "Huh? Sheik? Where am I?" he said before standing up and grunting in pain. Navi flew over to Link, "Link! You're awake! Are you okay?" she asked, Link nodded and looked at Sheik, "You tended to my wounds?"
"It would be bad if the Hero of Time were to die. Then there would be none to fight the Evil Ganondorf." Sheik began, "You see, you are the only one who can kill the evil dragon Volvagia."
"He's NOT an evil dragon!" Link yelled
"In order to break the dragon's curse you must kill it." Sheik answered.
"Don't talk like it's so simple!" Link yelled at his savior before muttering, "I will make him remember me. No matter what it takes."
"Come." Sheik said exiting the cave.

Link followed Sheik to see that he was back in the Goron city. The Goron Link ran towards him, "Link! Did you save kill the dragon?" Link looked at the Goron and turned his head away, the Goron understood and started begging, "Link! You must save my father! He's in danger! Goro." Link nodded, "I'll save him. And Volvagia." Link said the last part quietly enough to not be heard. Goron Link thanked him, and rolled back to the other Gorons he helped escape. Link turns back to Sheik but he was gone, Link looked around and sighed before running back down to the Darunia's quarters and into the mountain to get back to Volvagia.

He reaches the platform without incident. The ramp had returned and he ran down it to get to the dragon. As Link stood at the edge of the circle Volvagia rose out of one of the lava filled holes and landed on the other side of the circle. They stared at each other before the dragon charged again. Link stood his ground as the dragons open maw neared, "It's me Link!" he yelled, but the dragon kept coming. "Remember!" he shouted. The dragon continued, Link pulled out the legendary hammer and hit Volvagia's snout making him pull back. Link quickly pulled out his bow and... [Link trails off as he tries to keep his composure. Fluttershy comfortingly put a wing around Link, "It's okay, you don't have to continue if you don't want to." she said. Link shook his head, "It's fine." He wipes a tear away and continues.]

Link had his bow drawn and he fired an arrow that had only bounced off of a bone mask Volvagia had on. Volvagia wasted no time and flew into one of the holes. Link stood there as Volvagia appeared out of the hole next to him, he pulled out the megaton hammer and smashed it against the mask, it cracked and Volvagia hid back underground. Link saw the crack, "Maybe that mask is controlling him!" Link said hopefully, "All I have to do is break that mask!" Link tightened his grip on the hammer as he waited for Volvagia to show his masked face, a plan formed in his head. Volvagia rose again nearby and Link jump attacked him, barely getting a hit in which cracked the mask more. Instead of going back down the hole Volvagia flew upwards towards the ceiling. Link watched him fly around hitting the sides of the mountain making boulders fall down on top of the circle.

Link rolled forward to dodge one rock but stopping before another one crushed him. He kept diving and rolling to escape the falling debris until Volvagia had stopped hitting the sides of the mountain and flew back down one of the holes. Link was panting from all the energy dodging had taken, but he was still prepared for Volvagia. Link didn't stand still he slowly moved around the holes to wait for his possessed friend. Volvagia surfaced and Link bashed the mask to pieces, he then stood back and put the hammer away smiling at his accomplishment. It was short lived. Volvagia flew out of the hole and charged Link again, Link drew his bow and shot an arrow that directly hit Volvagia in the eye. He reared back and Link jumped at him, sword drawn. He raised the sword and brought it down on his beloved pet's neck, right under the horns.

The blade sliced cleanly through the tough dragon skin like slicing through paper. He landed as Volvagia's head and body collapsed to the sides. Link stared at Volvagia's disembodied head, tears in his eyes. Volvagia's red eyes changed into his old slit green eyes looking at Link. A smile slowly crept onto the dragons face as he spoke, "Li... Nk." tears filled both their eyes as the body and head burned away into ash. Leaving only a tooth and the shattered mask. Link takes the tooth and the mask, his pain turning to anger. The portal to the Chamber of Sages appears but Link doesn't enter, instead he throws the mask into the lava and puts the tooth away before entering the portal.

(well here's the next chapter. Now I must think of the next chapter, Will Link meet the Great and Powerful Trixie? Will Link go back to Hyrule or the spell goes wrong and kills him in the process!? or turns him into a pony. Find out next time.

nice chapter going to be interesting explaining dark link or the shadow temple if you do

You know, wouldn't it be more interesting if Link told his Majora's Mask quest to them. It's more darker and sadder than OoT's. He encountered more deadly tasks and encountered depressing scenes. The tells the Mane 6 how much of an Adult (and hero) Link is when he handled all that misery and stress as a child.

Water and Shadow temples, then the Ganon fight, after that, Termina. That'd be a good order IMO...

Shadow(simply because It's the most memorable dungeon)

and IF you do the Spirit Temple, Make sure you mention the part about the Ghostly guide through the desert.
