This story is a sequel to Phoenix Flight: Ace Attorney: Welcome to Turnabout!

When a preteen colt sets his little sister's doll on fire, an inventor faints miles away. Prodigy prosecutor Violet Edge follows the clues to the small village of Lucktown, a poor but proud community that doesn't take kindly to outsiders. He and his companions must unravel a web of prejudice and grudges, dogmas and social customs. And what they find may be bigger and more ancient than an isolated accident...

This is a remake of the similarly titled "???: turnabout buttons" but I have rewritten it completely except for the prologue, which is identical to the old prologue.
Reading the prequel is not required because the casts of these two stories do not interact; that will come in book three.

NOTICE: this story is being reworked from the ground up but I'm leaving this here in case anyone is curious

When a preteen colt sets his little sister's doll on fire, an inventor faints miles away. Meanwhile a stallion wakes up with no memory in the small village of Lucktown, near an orphanage where the children play strange games with their dolls...

This story takes place in the same universe as Phoenix Flight: Ace Attorney: Welcome to Turnabout! but as of now the two have no characters or plot events in common (though that will change in the sequels) so reading the other story is not required.
