also i'ma be partially reviving the whole "wanting to establish splintershard as an author universe" idea as mentioned in a previous blog but each story's gonna be pretty decently self-contained

so.

last night, i was dabbling a bit with fractures again. i was finally making a decision on how I wanted the story to end, despite said story only having about 1.5 chapters written so far across over three years of existence.

i also during that time made the decision to split off a chunk of the story to instead serve as a prequel. an explainer for how things led up to the event that sets off Fractures, and why.

and somehow, I only JUST made the connection tonight...

Well, since that obviously didn't happen, I figured I'd try and integrate some things into the final chapters of Splintershard regardless. It's more than a little loredump-y at times, but I feel that it gives a good, proper explanation as to why Sunset Shimmer is the way she is as seen in the past few chapters.

In other words, there's a whole Equestria Girls AU hiding in the shadows of Splintershard's waning chapters :P

Anyway this is working out to be a beefy chapter I believe.

Let's see how far I can get this ol' fic in my last few days of spring break.

i really wanna find a place in Splintershard to use this fact now.

ive got stockpiled chapters for a reason, and that reason is that sometimes I just don't feel like writing like how I felt for pretty much all of May.

Honestly, I don't think I'ma be writing them anymore. At best they'd add a bit of extra content, but it isn't anything I wouldn't be able to put into the main story itself. Not to mention how my update cycles have slowed to a crawl anyway. :P

might work on Splintershard a bit in the car, though. Holy crap have I been slacking on that story lately.

While the chapter that'll be posted soon is still part of arc 3, the one I'm currently writing is the first one in arc 4, and boy, do I have plans for that story arc. :V

So anyway, the next chapter to be published for Splintershard is going to refocus on the main quest to find the scroll copies. The next chapter I'm planning is also focused on it. Once the scroll plot is done and over with, we're either gonna be seeing a war arc or a rediscovery (of Twilight Sparkle) arc, depending on how things play out.

Remember all that teasing I did a while back about a draconequus and/or Fluttershy?

Yup. That chapter's out now.

I feel like constantly trying to meet a 1-week deadline for new chapters is starting to grind a bit on the quality of what I've been writing. The chapter I wrote last week (not the chapter I posted, just the one I wrote), for example, felt awkward as heck when I first wrote it, and it took multiple days of back-and-forth workshopping between one of my only active prereaders for the story, as well as in I Just Want a Comment's Discord server, for me to fix it.

I'm not quite as concerned about Pony-Me, since that's still been able to move along pretty smoothly. Splintershard's the one that I've been having more trouble with.
