If you haven’t read this story before reading this, you’re doing it wrong. So, go do it right by reading the story and then come back! Note: This is my longest follow-up to date, so I'm going to be dividing it into sections with three chapters a day. I'll be doing separate blog posts for each day. So, let's get this party started shall we? Good golly, it’s been too long since I’ve done one of these. First and foremost, the following will spoil the entire story fo... Read More

I did kind of do a reflection of sorts on the end of Chapter 29 of ECQ&tAE, but I think I'll do a more general one for my blog. Well... my second long story on this site is completed. ECQ&tAE, done, finished, with perhaps one lazy slice of life for Alternia and the gang down the pipe. The past two or three... not sure how long i've been writing ECQ&tAE but it's been long. There have been a number of changes, to my writing, which I hope has gotten better, my story... Read More

You're going to want to read the story before you read this. So go do that! What if you could travel to parallel worlds? The same year, the same world, only different dimensions. A world where the airships soar the sky... or you were one of the two immortal Princesses of Equestria... or where the world you knew is only a television show? Sunset and I found the gateway. Now the problem is... finding a way back home. Twenty-five authors. Fifteen hundred words each. Seventy-two hours a... Read More

Retrospective: Sky · 2:47am

You're going to want to read the story before you read this. So go do that! --- You know, sometimes it’s fun just to throw caution to the wind and just smash through your enemies like the fist of an angry god. Or in this case… the hoof of an angry princess. Considering what Sunny just pulled off... I think I'd rather face off against an angry god. Welcome to the Retrospective on And a Sky Full of Stars. Ever have one of those days that suddenly shatter your entire perspective on the world? Yeah. They’re fun, huh? [page_break] I’m not going to turn this into some “woe-is-me” thing. Basically, some stuff went down. Bad mojo. Intensely personal and intensely difficult. Stuff that’ll probably have me reading Grading on a Bell Curve and a few of my own blog posts about Hope and Faith. Tip: Never discount the wisdom your past self might have for your present self. Now, let... Read More

Greetings my Brony brethren! Well, this certainly took a lot longer to get out than I expected. I just needed a long break after it took me so long to write my Legend of Everfree review. As promised, I have returned with my retrospective for Season 6 of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. As in the last time I did this after the end of Season 5, I mean to look back at Season 6 and judge it according to a number of categories I have devised, some of them new. This was the first seaso... Read More

The large amount of MLP-related news this month has given to us made me think of this topic. I don't know why people get so annoyed when talking about this theme, this is a very important issue that we have to keep constantly in discussion, to think about what we can do for the series, so that it does not continue to be exploided and destroyed, and I think that you also have to ask yourself these questions: Is MLP decaying? And what will happen when the series ends? Author's not... Read More

You're going to want to read the story before you read this. So go do that! --- Welcome, everypony to the retrospective of Bards of the Badlands and yet another dose of D&D mixed with MLP! Today we've got some fun stuff. A bit wonky, but fun. And a whole lot of epic art. Because epic stuff is epic. [page_break] Bards of the Badlands turned out to be a lot harder to write than I anticipated. The real problem—which quickly became self-evident—was originally, ... Read More

Well, I just got back from Ponycon. Long story short? It was fun. Very fun. I'm eagerly looking forward to attending Bronycon for the full three days. For further details, read below:[page_break] • I got there more than half an hour ahead of time, but I made the most of it. Just exploring the parking lot was an interesting experience, seeing all the different states people had come from, and the occasional vanity plate. (A "RNBW DSH" was almost exactly across from an "AP... Read More

Three-thousand likes. That's a lot of people, honestly. I don't really remember the exact day KYM was created, but I know it was in the early 2014's, and it was on a different site. I came to FiMfiction with four stories in my portfolio: Elements of the Past, Former Etiquette (which I only learned today was spelled wrong for over three years), Scratch the Octave, and -of course- Know Your Mare. Two of them met with lukewarm responses, as is to be expected for a newbie fresh... Read More

Dwell on the Past · 3:49am

As 2016 dies its slow, 24-hour long death, I thought I'd look back on what I've accomplished this year: • 20 published stories • 11 published Dueling Keyboards shorts • 8 Writeoff entires, one of which won its contest • 1 newly published minific collection • 1 newly created AU with associated group and several other contributing authors • Over 100,000 words written • 43 Friendship is Card Games blogs • Hundreds of cards created • Hundreds of new followers ... 2016 is already agonizing and there's no better way to end this year than reviewing the 40 things that the sixth season of My Little Pony taught me this year, season that despite having a pair of jewels and another few recordable tapes, in general terms it can be qualified as DISAPPOINTING, with capital letters. In fact if one starts to dig and reconsider, one can appreciate that the series has again given reasons to enjoy and rejoice, to entertain and make think, to cry and to tear the... Read More

You're going to want to read the story before you read this. So go do that! --- Welcome to the Retrospective on The Alchemy of Chemistry, the first book set in the Wavelengths Timeline. The date is roughly May of 990, almost one year since a rather ordinary Admissions Day at Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns. And after being forced to become an aide for Professor Apple Polish, Sunset now must face her greatest challenge as Celestia’s student... Her own legacy. And so ... Read More

Why I write · 6:11am

I write because it helps me think things through. I can walk around for days or years, accumulating a big tangle of half-formed thoughts, but it's not until I sit down and try to channel them into a story that they start to cohere. Also cute Derpy and Doctor because reasons Sometimes I write stuff that falls flat. E.g., I wrote Conscience well over a year ago, and it wasn't terrible, but it was kind of a creative failure; I tried very hard to channel some thoughts and experie... Read More

Warning: Season-wide spoilers abound. Proceed with caution. Well, the fish has jumped. I know, that's a weird reaction to this season ending, but I felt it was appropriate. After all, that's how this season felt to me. It certainly didn't generate the same excitement I got out of Seasons 4 and 5. Not to say it was bad by any means, but let's go over what worked and what didn't, shall we? [page_break] Starlight Glimmer's arc was good, but not great.... Read More

Well, that only took eighteen months. But aaaannnnnnyway, thank you to everyone who followed Aria Blaze's violent journey towards self-love and (hopefully) pacifism! This was by far my most ambitious writing project to date (although not my longest fic; The Mare Formerly Known as Lyra still somehow beats it by like 20,000 words) and I'm glad that those who gave it a chance really liked it. As I've mentioned before, I was rather disappointed by how small a viewership it ... Read More

You're going to want to read the story before you read this. So go do that! --- Well, here we are again! It’s been a few days since Sunset Shimmer Day (Fall Equinox on September 22) and I do hope you’ve enjoyed the ride. This story was something a little different for me to write and it had its own unique challenges because of that. But first, why did we get this story? Well, because I really enjoyed the dynamic between Sunset and Twilight set up in Applications. I wan... Read More

You're going to want to read the story before you read this. So go do that! --- So, I hope you'll forgive the experiment here. Rather than posting the entire story in one go, I decided to try spacing them out one a day. Maybe drum up a little more traffic for this tale. It didn't quite go as I planned, but it was good to try it out. What do you think? Do you like longer stories you can attack all in one go or prefer ones where you can spread it out over a few days? As... Read More
