Last week we saw the first pics from the James Webb Space Telescope. The stunning images of early galaxies were amazing, although as an instrument nerd I find myself paying more attention to the camera specs. It’s an impressive bit of kit: 6.5m mirror and IR camera operating under 50K, requiring a five-layer sun shield, which had to unfold in space after being launched, with no chance of fixing things if it went wrong. Got to respect the team doing the QA/QC.

I've sat through a heatwave the past week, so have done absolutely no writing whatsoever...

While it's going to get a tad colder again this weekend, the heat will return again next week. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do much writing throughout it...

Hey, guys. Well, in light of recent events, I've decided to resume working on my Rogues Displaced project, entitled "Somepony Better Call 911!" I have high confidence in this project. And just in case a certain someone decides to run my story through the mud, I'll be putting in a PM with one of my contacts, who, despite having created a group that "bad" stories end up in, is actually a pretty decent guy. It has been really hot for about two weeks now without so much as a drop of rain. Several records has been broken already and most shops are sold out of fans. The grass on our yard has turned yellow and crispy as a result of this heatwave. Hopefully, things will cool down soon enough...

Those who plan on living in good 'ol Cali, don't go through with it. It's not what it's cracked up to be, and those who are living in Cali along with me, find a way to move away. Believe me, I'm considering moving back to Nevada. And even that place is bad, but at least it gets more breaks from the heat than Cali does!
