Frenemies Review · 4:36pm May 18th, 2019

Well, Italy basically aired this and the next two episodes early but in Italian. And now supposedly Canada is going to start doing double episodes each week, meaning they could potentially overtake the U.S. in airing new episodes. I doubt it will happen, but at this point Hasbro might actually not care, they might just think "It's the last season, the sooner we can dump it the sooner we can move on" (I hope that's not their mentality). Anyway, with an episode focused solely on the villains, we

My overall thoughts on season 7 · 11:21pm Oct 23rd, 2017

Be warned that this post will contain spoilers for the finale (which I have watched, but of which will also be covered with spoiler tags). Just a heads up.

That said, I thought I'd compile my thoughts on every single episode from season 7, all 26 of them. I'll be giving a sentence or two for each one summing up my feelings, as well as a grade out of 10. And remember, these really are short, so it's nothing in-depth or anything.

The Beginning of the End Review · 5:31pm Apr 6th, 2019

Well folks, the final season is upon us. We've got just 26 episodes left and then the show is over. It's been quite a ride, full of ups and downs. Some even say the show should've ended long ago, and there's no denying that many shows wish they'd have had this kind of longevity. Alas, nothing lasts forever and all good things must come to an end eventually. Considering that most of our pony fix so far this year has been a series of "Encore" shorts and the underwhelming "Spring Breakdown", the

Twilight's Seven Review · 5:26pm Apr 20th, 2019

Well folks, this is it, the big 200! In case you're wondering how only the fourth episode of the final season counts, well I already mentioned yesterday that the show staff count "The Best Gift Ever" as an episode, making it episode 196 (I suppose if you don't wanna count it as an episode you could always saw that this is the fifth episode of Season 9 and that the actual fourth episode got switched). This was touted as a big celebration of the "six voice actors who've brought us so far" and we

2, 4, 6, Greaaat Review (Spoilers for American Fans!) · 5:40pm Jul 13th, 2019

Yes, folks, it seems like China is indeed going to air the second half of Season 9 in its enterity, and that means the show will be over even sooner than we thought. By the time the show comes back to the U.S. airwaves it's gonna be all but done in China, and we'll have English audio rips circulating for anyone who wants to see. And unless the synopsis' are revealed in the near future we'll be going into these upcoming episodes blind. Of course you know the drill, if you're waiting for the U.S.

Growing Up is Hard To Do Review (Spoilers for American Fans!) · 2:43am Sep 5th, 2019

Just when you thought the leaks were done, they come roaring back with a vengance! Portugal got Episodes 22 through 26 with English subtitles, denying any possibility of the end of Season 9 being spoiler free. But then it seemed like English fans would be in luck after Australia and China both pulled their planned early airings of the remaining episodes. Until a few days ago when an outright hack caused the episodes to pop up in full English. However, I'm only reviewing this episode and the

The Big Mac Question (Spoilers for American Fans!) · 9:10pm Sep 5th, 2019

Well, this is the only other early review you're getting out of me from the last batch of episodes. I'm waiting to watch the last three episodes when they air in the U.S., for I decided up front not to see the season and series finale early if it should air or be leaked ahead of schedule. And with Episodes 24 and 25 being the season finale and Episode 26 being the series finale, my decision has been made. Anyway, Josh Haber and Michael Vogel teamed up for this episode, and after the last couple

Fame and Misfortune Review · 4:53pm Aug 12th, 2017

So, we're finally getting new episodes after over a month on hiatus. And kicking off the second half of the season, we've got M. A. Larson coming back. Larson tends to be a fan favorite, having penned episodes like "Sonic Rainboom", "Secret of My Excess", "Slice of Life", and "Amending Fences", though he's had duds like "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000". With the promise of the friendship journal returning for this episode, it seemed like this was set up for success almost from the get go

A "Christmas" episode in October? Okay then. It was a rather strange episode, and occasionally a bit disjointed, but reasonably heart(hs)warming. Actually, it had similarities to "Hearth's Warming Eve" itself from back in S2. A few interesting bits of worldbuilding and new characters, but not an episode you need to concentrate too intensely on. It might turn out to be ideal for Boxing Day, actually. ★★★

A few more thoughts, with spoilers, past the break.

Not bad, and made a solid farewell episode for AKR. One of the songs (the penultimate one that was previewed months back) was outstanding, the others were okay. Wasn't nearly as much of a fan of the modern-style one as many people seem to be. Having "Rara" not referring to Rarity is going to confuse me now every time I read a certain type of fanfic. Story felt like it was trying to fit too much into 22 minutes minus whatever the songs took up. Svengallop was one of the dullest "villains"

A Fluttershy episode that, for the most part, didn't do anything new. In fact, it was heading straight for a two-star rating until near the end, despite Applejack and Big Mac. (I was not a fan of Granny Smith in this: never mind Angel, she was worse.) The final few minutes were very nice, with a moral that I approve of. And of course it's a Fluttershy episode, and she gets extra points just for being Fluttershy. So it should have been an easy three. However, the really scared one now is

Not bad, I guess. Rarity episodes are rarely terrible, and this one wasn't, but nor was it one of her greatest hits. "Suited for Success" and "Rarity Takes Manehattan" were both a class above Amy Keating Rogers' latest effort. ★★★

Fascinating season finale, and one that very sensibly didn't try to outdo S4's finale but went in a different direction. Masses going on, but it mostly managed to keep the pacing right. The exception was the ending, which really did feel rushed. One line in particular (from Spike) will have caught the attention of many fanfic readers in particular, and was a hay of a coincidence given the setting, hmm Mr Haber? :raritywink: Astonishing new scope for fanfics from this one, too!

An Analysis of Made in Manehattan · 3:24pm Oct 3rd, 2015

Hello, Everybrony!

This episode was so intriguing that I could help but review it! I know you all are probably thinking, “Why is posting a blog post about last week’s episode now? It’s old news.” Well, this episode required a lot of time to analyze properly, and I’ve been busy throughout the week. Besides, I might even be able to do two analyses today!

I also decided not to bother with a YouTube video post because it’s always taken down and not worth the time.

Just a few things before I dive in:

This episode is probably controversial and thus my opinion of this episode will be too. But as I've said (and I still haven't found a reason to change my opinion) the writers really pulled out the stops and put together some of the best episodes for this entire show in season five part two. So, it might be obvious where I lean on this episode.

This will probably be the last episode review I do since no one really seems to read these or care.

S6E15: "28 Pranks Later" · 11:08pm Aug 13th, 2016

Thanks to GBR annoyingly choosing an episode day to do very well at the Olympics, this will be short. Another miss for me, I'm afraid. A potentially fabulous premise executed rather disappointingly, and with characterisation that simply didn't feel right for Season Six. Several very funny moments, but in terms of entertainment the episode as a whole was about on a par with last week's. ★★

Episode review: "28 Pranks Later" · 10:48pm Aug 14th, 2016

"28 Pranks Later" was a particularly worrisome synopsis. It promised to repeat the worst crimes of "The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well" and continue to have Rainbow Dash re-learn already-known lessons. Thankfully, the episode itself is surprisingly good-natured and entertaining, even though it still feels like a repetition of earlier character development. It's just too bad that this is the show at its most thuddingly predictable and simplistic, repeating all of the previous episode's mistake with

The season is really on a good streak now. This was by far my favourite post-reformation Starlight Glimmer story. By far. There was one innovation I really disliked, but for the most part it was a fine way for Michael Vogel and Sabrina Alberghetti (Sibsy) to bow out of Pony. ★★★★

A few extra comments, with spoilers, past the break.
