I have a few notes I wanted to share—things that I felt were important enough to share, because I believe in them, and I believe other writers might find them interesting. These are a bit disorganized, but I’ve tried to organize them in terms of content. I’ll try not to speak too long. Your time is valuable, as is mine.
First off, thanks to AShadowOfCygnus, MSPiper, and metallusionismagic. for pre-reading!
As I sometimes do, I'm gonna give you the dramaturge first, and then at the end we'll have the story notes and whatnot.
Thanks and attributions:
I would be remiss if I did not note two who pre-read this story, as well as Vinylshadow for providing the cover artwork. They provided what I could not!
Origins and inspiration:
Some of my story concepts come from examining inconsistencies in the show and wondering how they could come to be.

I guess I never really got rid of that author’s-notes bug after writing The Children of Planet Earth. Curse you, Admiral Biscuit!
People say to quit while you're ahead, and I'd say 120 upvotes to no downvotes is ahead.
That might change on the next chapter.
In the end, what this story is really about is my depressive episode that started during the coronavirus lockdown/general feeling of the world being on fire, and not being free of it yet despite being able to live a mostly-normal life these days. I somehow did not realize this connection until I was most of the way through writing it.
Now that we got all the vocabulary and tech out of the way in the last blog post, here's some more behind-the-scenes stuff for Spring Comes to Snow Hill.
Got a Christmas present for y'all!
I'm sure some of you remember Silver Glow mentioning the Hearth's Warming where a feral storm came in, and the Merry Ambree sailed out to make sure that the pegasi got to eat a Hearth's Warming feast.
Alright, let's try and finish this up shall we?
In Equestria, Twilight is rallying the rest of the Flipped Six. After overhearing CH!Spike's talk with Sunset and seeing him break the mirror she's determined not let a situation like the changeling invasion play out again. Naturally the others are a bit confused over what's going on, Thunderlane asking why she's waking them up before sunrise and Ditzy wondering why they're having breakfast so late.
There was a moment, after I hit publish on the story, that I thought about writing some notes on it. But I realized that it would be inappropriate—it may influence the judges’ decision, after all, and obviously for a contest that would be most unfair. Now that the contest is over and the winners have been announced, I feel that it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to talk a little about this
As usual, spoilers ahead!

Fair warning, this story doesn't have the CMC in it, but it is about mountain climbing.
Every now and then you come across a list of weird laws. And some of them are weird, like that you can't tie an alligator to a fire hydrant in Detroit.
Of course, without looking up the relevant statute, I don't know if it's legal to tie any animal to a fire hydrant in Detroit. Dogs might also be prohibited, along with cats, pigs, horses, cows, snakes, stegosauruses (or is that stegosauri?). . .
