Hi all,

So, I've been a member of the site for a bit over a month now and have been working hard on a set of stories. I'm always eager to hear how I can improve so I was hoping to hear feedback on what I've done well and what I could do better. These aren't my first fanfictions but are my first trip into writing for MLP.
I hasten to say that they have been found by a small number of lovely people who comment on every chapter and I'm very grateful for their input. It's not that I've had 'no' comments at all but I'm hoping for a few more thoughts of what was good and bad to help me along the way. :yay:

So, what's my story?
Marking the Generations reimagines the latter stages of the Make your Mark series. Follow the adventures of Sunny, Izzy, Pipp, Zipp and Hitch as they not only make a permanent friend in Misty, but also meet two ponies from a past Generation, Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer. Together they search for the Elements of Unity and rediscover Harmony and Unity along the way.

I split this into parts, of these Part One is complete and Part Two is in progress whilst Part Three is in the planning stages.

Part One can be found here: https://www.fimfiction.net/story/549711/marking-the-generations-part-one

Part Two can be found here: https://www.fimfiction.net/story/551788/marking-the-generations-part-two

As mentioned, I'm already very grateful to those who are following and commenting already. However, I hope to hear more great comments and feedback of both the good and bad so I can continue to improve.

Welcome to Fimfiction! :yay: Not a comment on the stories themselves as such, but: do you know how many parts the series will have when it's finished? If so, it might be an idea to put that in the long descriptions. Some readers won't start a story/series until it's finished, given the huge number of long fics/series that end up never being completed.

Hopefully it will be just three. However, I won't be completely sure until I've finished planning Part Three. :unsuresweetie:

Adding that to the long descriptions sounds like an excellent idea once I know though.

Your story seems intresting, time to add it into my read it later list!

Sounds interesting. Gonna give it a try. :trollestia:
Also welcome to FiMFiction!

Further to this, planning part three has gone well but my hopes of just three parts have been dashed. There will be a Part Four. :pinkiegasp:

So, part two is completed and I hope Part Three will be at a point that chapters can start being released towards the end of the month. There is a delay as I am away for a week so no progress will be made.

Something I've been improving is the descriptions of the stories. Thoughts and feedback on these is most appreciated and welcomed:

Marking the Generations is a four part series of stories which are a reimagining of the later stages of the Make your Mark series. Follow the adventures of Sunny, Hitch, Izzy, Zipp and Pipp as they make a new friend in Misty and meet two ponies from a past generation.

Twilight Sparkle has always done her best for Equestria. As her reign finally ends, she realises her final decision to safeguard Equestria will have consequences. However, let it not be said that Twilight Sparkle ever left Equestria to its own devices.
Calling on Starlight Glimmer and Sunset Shimmer. She transports them through time to assist the new generation to identify the Elements of Unity and defeat the evil she was unable to alone.

So, chapters for part three are releasing now. I'm really interested to hear more thoughts. I feel I have improved the proof reading that I'm doing on each chapter. However, I'm worried that it could just be a feeling and not an actual improvement in the reduction of errors. Just because I'm picking out more doesn’t mean there aren't others I'm missing. :applejackconfused:

EMarking the Generations – Part Three
The third part of Marking the Generations, a reimagining of the later stages of the Make your Mark series. Opaline's plans are kicking into the next gear! Will our heroes rescue Sunset or will her appearance at Opaline’s door turn into a Nightmare?

I'm also very interested to know what people think to splitting it up into separate parts? Each part is around 15 chapters which I felt would be extremely long if it was all in one story. Something that puts me off is seeing a fic has lots and lots of chapters. However, if a fic has fewer chapters but has sequils it makes me more likely to follow onto those sequils.

Once again, all thoughts and feedback greatly appreciated and I'm always thankful for those who are already posting comments. :twilightsheepish:

Above, I mentioned improvements to my proof reading. Something I'm aware of is that by doing that, I need to go back to the earlier stories.

Therefore, that is what I've been doing this week and Part One of Marking the Generations has had this improvement. I've corrected a great many errors that I've missed previously.

Therefore I hope anyone put off by them will be kind enough to give it another try now. I'm still extremely grateful for anyone who wishes to provide feedback

Marking the Generations, Part Four is now up to Seventeen chapters. At the moment, it's looking like there will be Twenty One in total.

That means we're getting closer and closer towards the end of the story. :fluttershbad:

However, the latest chapter, chapter Seventeen, I feel is one of the best I've produced so far. I'm eager to hear what people think of it. :yay:

Also, I have ideas for future stories which will follow on with the continuity I've set up in Marking the Generations. :raritywink:
So whilst we're nearing the end, this end will only be the beginning. :pinkiehappy:

So, I've now completed the last part of my four part story, Marking the Generations.

I'm very thankful for all who have read, liked and commented. I'm always open to more feedback and eager to hear what people think. I have ideas for follow up stories, the first of which I've started planning. Therefore, comments and feedback I can take on and make those even better are gratefully received. :raritywink:
