Fanon is something that is held for informal canon within a fandom, even though it's not canon proper. In this case, it's widely believed that Lyra is obsessed with humans, even by people who have no idea why, simply because it's so prevalent.

Thus, a headcanon can become fanon if enough fans just start taking it for granted.
