Good chapter. How my courier would deal with this: My Courier: Where's their base? Sheriff: Old train station. My Courier: The one by the fucking massive hole? Sheriff: Yes. My Courier: Okay then. *Sound of BB Gun firing followed immediately after by a bright flash of light and a massive rippling shockwave* And they're gone, can I come in now? Sheriff: First you ditch that Megaspell. My Courier: It ain't no "Megaspell" it's a BB Gun I found in a chest labelled Fuck-You Class Weaponry of the Wastes. Sheriff: *Complete silence before the gate opens*
3280622I thought the worst thing was that it had a lot of good ideas running behind it, and the characters were all interesting (especially dean domino), but it all was kind of thrown together in a big, annoying, boring, mess. after my first play through of it anytime I went there I just used developer weapons to get it over quickly.
3280870 Hah! Mods! One designed to make the game even EASIER, by the sounds of it! You wanna play New Vegas Hardcore like it was meant to be played? One of the devs made this. You will get mad. Repeatedly.
Yeah, it did get boring after I got into the casino, but the stuff before it was just awesome! And I don't see why people just invest in some unarmed, pick up the bear trap fists and a few spears and just charge the ghost people, I mean honestly, melee and unarmed weapons are just so amazing, but maybe my investment on monocyte breeder helped
3280881 I used the GECK for my mods, that is I made them. Took m a while to remember how to not crash the game by equipping a gun after all I did was give it one extra ammo capacity. Plus, Hardcore is hard enough at level fifty on very easy, I don't think I could survive with a mod like that, not since I gave molerats ten thousand health and one hitting capabilities.
3280902 Yeah, that end-user fix seriously makes the early parts nightmarishly hard, what with 5 Strength only netting you a carry weight of 100. And 5 Endurance giving you 100 HP. The overall effect is that it turns Dead Money into a truly agonising experience.
Heh, if she makes him glue horns to his helmet, she'd better hope she won't get accidentally 'ported to the Mojave with him when the time comes. If she's lucky, he'll let her choose the snowglobe he'll impale on her horn for the "Cyberdog" act (Well, depending on how he can stop the Think Tank from de-horning and lobotomizing her...)
Oh, and a few chapters back, he mentioned 'Ronnie (in a way that kinda implies that he'd traveled with her before), yet he hates the Brotherhood, what's his history with her, then? (Well, probably took the MacNamara questline / Causeless Rebel perk, but a) did he wipe 'em out, b) what's the big picture?)
Well... unless they're using explosives. Even an unskilled drugged up dumbass can give ya their share of grief and then some once they've managed to cripple your legs with 'em.
3280891Ironically, My second legit play through of Dead money I did while roleplaying as Thomas (btw thats super fun) and it was actually way easier than the first time with my energy weapons specialist. A thing I forgot to mention originally was the end reward. you get like 36 gold bars but even if you drop everything and have the max carry weight you can only get 10 as a message about "letting go" which was kinda the motto of that DLC. However I said to myself "you just put me through all this shoddily put together crap and now you give some bullshit about how its not about the reward? Well F--k you imam use Godmode and take all of it"
3286368 One or two, sure. But realistically (and Fallout Equestria follows some serious real world logic) getting outnumbered and swarmed is a very serious threat, especially considering it's two decently-armed Wastelanders against a hundred-plus raiders with a lot of firepower. And who says all raiders are insane chem-addicts?
3289932 Let's see the in game audio the radio report about how crazy they are and in game wiki and wiki websites too.
Am more worry about people turning into old school vikings that have a reglen about dieing in a great battle and more.
but raiders on the other hand are not that semrt if you think about it hell even the ones in Fallout new veags are still dumb. But the great krans how ever are a other story all togter.
The Great Krans was like i say they take old world history and vuals and use it into there new socity with it.
Like i say am more worry about the ones that use old world cutlrs and amp it up to the max.
3289979 You seem to be pretty good raider material yourself, if your illiteracy is anything to go by. The games follow video game logic. This story follows REAL WORLD logic. I have no idea how to make it any clearer.
Before he met the brotherhood, they still acted like a bunch of insufferable jerks, even under McNamara. Doubtless he went through causeless rebel and made an nor truce like hie other counterpart.
3290425 Well, yeah, they're still douchebags, but at least with a less douchey and more rational and reasonable leader than Hardin. I know, he'd (MacNamara) do well to try and keep their behavior in check, but one could see how even when he's passively preventing them from pushing people around with his lockdown, opportunistic would-be usurpers like Hardin start crawling outta the woodworks. If he were to actively try to lasso the more ... overenthusiastic paladins in, he'd be causing another fiasco like the capital wasteland chapter went through. And while one would argue the paladins are the main problem, Elijah's an excellent example of scribes in positions of authority also being a potentially nasty thing.
Guess all one can do with moderates like Veronica is get them out of the Brotherhood while there's still time til the situation inevitably deteriorates. It's really too bad for the more likable Brotherhood characters.
I'm interested to see how Thomas will go about tackling these Raiders. My own Courier would recon the position for a while, find any gaps in patrol, then sneak in the base and take the leader hostage. Any raiders who get in the way will be dispatched with a stealth melee kill- a bowie knife should suffice. Since raiders don't negotiate, I'd use the leader's own fortifications (since he or she is likely to be in the center of the fortification where they are safest) against the bastards, take them down as they come at me, using my Marksman Carbine, with a Ranger Sequoia, 10mm pistol, or .44 revolver on backup (I switch between the three as sidearms, so it really just depends on when I got sent to Equestria for whichever one I had on me. If I were to choose, it would be the 10mm, since those rounds are much more common than .44 or .45-70 and it's still a decently powerful weapon). When the leader's the last one left, kill him / her and take the head back to Tenpony.... If that fails on account of there being no holes in the enemy's defenses or I get caught and the alarm is raised before I can take the leader, I'd blast a path to the leader with my 40mm Grenade Launcher (standard grenades), then barricade a defensible position and set up any satchel charges I have on hand to keep them funneled into one path of attack. I don't know if the majority of those raiders would have anything capable of punching through a suit of Advanced Power Armor Mk. 1 (Remnants power armor) but if they did, I would like to think my fairly high medical skill and around 15 stimpaks would be able to keep me together. My actual character on New Vegas has something like 350 stims, but for the sake of keeping it a little more realistic I'll limit that number.
Anyway, I got really distracted with that. I know that this attack on all the raiders isn't going to go smoothly, that's just not the way of the Wasteland... so, I can't wait to see what sort of a wrench the Equestrian Wasteland can throw into the works here. I know it probably won't be anything that actually kills Thomas or Moonbeam, since I doubt you brought them all the way out here just to kill them with some Raiders, but I also get the feeling that this next leg of their journey isn't going to be a cakewalk, nor will it just be a filler event. No, something important is going to happen in that train station, and I am very interested to see what it is.
A hundred raiders? This base must be huge. I don't think Fortification Hill had that many people. How has this gang not already completely overrun Tenpony?
3298306 a) They're raiders. Definitely not the most organised bunch. A lot of infighting and such. b) In-game, there weren't a hundred. Realistically, there would have been SEVERAL hundred soldiers in Fortification Hill, and that is just in the area you access! Processing limitations are the only reason we never saw anything like that. c) Tenpony is pretty well fortified.
3296574 My own Courier would probably sit somewhere hidden, and pick the Raiders off one by one with one of his more ranged revolvers. Yes, it would take an impossibly long time, but Jack is patient. It's one of the core parts of his character.
My Lone Wanderer, Kara, on the other hand, would just run in with Shishkebab and Slo-Burn Flamer drawn and incinerate the entire camp.
MOAR!!!!!
arms caravan?
So how much do you want to bet that Thomas is going to find some way to blow up the Raider's base?
3280321
Arms as in weapons.
3280334 Or a REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY fucked up medical caravan ...Or a minotaur prosthetics caravan
3280355
Welcome to Dr. Zed's Portable Clinic!
3280367 ....Fuck it,Zombie doc,Patch me up
3280367 Also i have to say,Your pic is creepier than any of the psychoshy or pinkamina pics.....
Then again i have a crush on pinkamina (the totally psychotic kind Ala Ask Pinkamina Diane Pie)
3280369 Actually, Dr. Ned is the zombie doc.
3280367 Yeah, that pic of yours is creepy.
around a hundred of them? Well, Thomas has his work cut out for him
I don't see the big deal with Dead Money, honestly, it's probably my favorite of the dlcs
3280622
It's a matter of looking at it from an 'in-character' perspective.
3280660
Oh I get it, thanks
3280660
I think we should have a 'creepy faic' week

yes it would be fucking easy becasue Raider are fucking supid as fuck

I can't help but hear the Courier's dialog in the Arbiter's voice!
"Were it so easy."
looks like those raiders are in for a....
....Special Delivery.
3281609
You really think I'm gonna let it be that simple? Seriously?
3285234 dude even if the put land mines and traps with some rockets you can take them down easyer than a mole rat
oh, and speaking of Veronica...
Now Moonbeam definitely needs to meet the 2nd cutest (after herself :D), most badass brawling "Procurement Specialist" ever!

Especially since REAL GOLD IS NOT THAT HEAVY
3290449... yes it actually is, a gold bar that size probably would be about 35 pounds like it is in game
