How goes it? · 5:07pm Jul 23rd, 2022
It goes. How? I'm still trying to figure that out.
I really wish I could deliver on my promises to write more consistently and provide content more frequently. It seems like every time I do that, things go sideways somewhere else that seriously hampers my ability to do fun hobby things, which this site falls under that umbrella. It's been about 3 months since the last chapter of Set Sail dropped, and in that time I've worked a year's worth of overtime. I work in the meteorology business, and May is the busiest month of the year by far. Logged a ton of extra hours and a few double shifts that month, and then people started taking vacation like it was going out of style in June and July, which left me pulling mostly 6 day weeks for the past couple of months. It's been good for the pocketbook, but bad for my burnout and stress levels. I also moved at the end of May, just to add more stress.
That said, my hands haven't been totally idle! I've had my writing projects on a low simmer during that time, sneaking in little writing sessions here and there as time and energy permitted. Another chapter is nearing the completion mark, and so far it's nearly 10,000 words long, plus I've been entertaining the idea of branching out into other fandoms at long last. I've gotten really into Wings of Fire recently (you should too, it's basically just MLP but with dragons and on-screen deaths), and I might eventually put out a story in that vein. No solid plans on that for now, but it's been flashing through my mind here and there. Or I might even take a crack at original fiction, who knows? If an idea grabs me, I'm open to pursuing it. And maybe I should write a few one-shots for MLP too, those are always fun and good for getting new readers.
And to close, some personal stuff that isn't depressing! After dismissing it as ultra nerd shit all my life, I've gotten into a D&D session with a group of my longtime friends and it's been amazing. I'm playing as a Minotaur bard. He's a himbo. I love him dearly. Oh, and I am going to be adopting a pet birb tomorrow! I've wanted one for years and it's finally feeling like the right time to take the plunge.
Just look at this funky lil dude 👀
You already know I'm considering naming him after Set Sail characters.
Expect a new chapter soon :)
Name him Birdo.
Total coincidence but I have just gotten back into Wings of Fire after three or four years. I was reading that series from the start and only just finished the books 14 and 15. You are absolutely spot on with your description of them!
Looking forward to the next chapter, but make sure you stay healthy and happy!

I'm just starting book 11! Even after all those books, Clay is still the best boy to me :)

Oh absolutely! Even though he becomes less relevant to the main plot, he remains absolutely precious. I was especially fond of him in the second arc.
ho shit
hes so cute!
Fun birb!
Don't beat yourself up too much over the lack of writing. You might grow to resent yourself which helps no one. Been there, done that.
what a groovy lil guy
From a fellow birb owner, they do indeed look very snazzy👍
