Sorry to hear this. :( A quick internet search reveals that it is illegal for any landlord to lock out any tenant without going through legal channels. It looks like Canada specifically has websites about what to do in the event that your landlord has done this to you. First, CALL THE POLICE. They might be able to solve the problem immediately, at least short term, to get back in for the night. Then, depending on where you are, you call "the Rental Housing Enforcement Unit of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing". That's from an Ontario website. While you have access to Internet, after you call the police for EMERGENCY assistance, research the part of Canada you live in for exactly whom to call next. Be safe.
I did a little more research and even if you are behind on your rent, you cannot be evicted by your landlady, she has to go through channels. She MUST provide you the key to get back in whenever you request it, any time of day or night.
Again, if she won't do that, CALL THE POLICE.

hi feech but tenancy laws in canada do not work that way. if i am rooming with my landlord it's not a legal tenancy agreement and i have no legal protections. i appreciate the thought a lot tho.

Unfortunately if you haven't signed anything then yes that is different. It is still considered unreasonably short notice to evict you, there's no way a court would side in the landlady's favor, but you'd have to take her to court, is best I could find regarding Canadian tenancy laws. :( Have you called her since she locked you out? If she had an episode, could she have repented since then? Just a thought.
Even if you don't have a written contract, she's still sitting on your possessions. That alone should give you some legal pull. At the very least, you could describe the situation to the police, unless your local law enforcement has a... reputation?
