I'm not sure if any of my still-active followers have been here all the way back to the MSL Era, but if you have, please let me know in the comments. I'd love to know.
My Sister, Loyalty, for those unfamiliar, was my first story ever posted. It was a fluff fic of Dash and Scootaloo becoming sisters, about a year before it actually happened in-show via Sleepless in Ponyville. It's been gone through by Double R Forrest and myself recently, and so has been cut down to size and largely streamlined. Still not perfect, and will be recieving more edits later on, but compared to where it was it reads a lot more like my current work than before.
Why? Well, I'm not going to get deep into it right now, but it's for a new upcoming project.
For now, check out My Sister, Loyalty if you haven't before. No longer a mountain of grammar inconsistencies or run-on sentences to scare people away.
Ooh! I'll definitely check it out later!
I can only imagine the weight that was lifted off your shoulders after editing it. Personally, I hate reading my own old stuff. It reeks of newbiesm.
I'll have to re-read it, I'm curious though, did you cut out any adverbs? Something I neglected when I started writing.

I didn't specifically hunt for adverbs, no. MSL suffered from run-on sentences, comma errors, and other punctuation most of all so that's what's been worked on so far. It still has some adverbs. I don't tend to use them much in my current works.

Same, but I personally still like to leave them as they were, because I can look back on them and compare them to my current works to see how I've improved as a writer.
I didn't join the fandom until Season 4 was ending-- Season 5 hadn't aired yet, to my knowledge, though I kinda fell out of the fandom outside of reading fanfics before Season 5 started, until I suddenly found Dear Small Pony Book... I think.
But none of that's relevant. I actually first found "My Sister, Scootaloo", then I discovered the rest of your works, starting with "My Sister, Loyalty". I still remember how excited and shocked I was when I found out you rebranded and started writing for the changelings. In fact, I'm pretty sure you were one of the first fanfic authors I discovered, like, period! Or at least one of the first FimFic authors.

I see. My trouble is limiting them to only certain times and I don't really know how to balance them. I get you can eliminate a lot in writing with them and replace them all with character descriptions so the reader comes to a conclusion on their own, but it's hard to wrap your head around it all.

Yeah, writing is an endless journey of improvement and figuring stuff out. It's funny, I'm largely self-taught as a writer, so there's a lot of nuance and rules that I do out of muscle memory of knowing what 'looks' right according to my experience, but I can't necessarily tag and title those rules according to a book.

I can understand that.
I kind of wish I had downloaded the original.
Well time to reread to see if this still warrants a place on my shelf.

I mean, the story really hasn't changed, just excess descriptors of the same thing cut down.
I was here in the beginning I’ll be here in the end.
