-Grown ass man, to a kid that just invited him into his house to shelter from a sandstorm.
Don't get me wrong, I'll take shitty dialogue and a great story versus an absolute shit story with okay dialogue (Disney sequels).
Great story? GREAT story? I'm not defending the sequels, I'm saying there's nothing redeemable about the prequels.

Each to their own. I'm not saying they're anywhere close to perfect, just that in comparison to the sequel trilogy, they are, at the very least, enjoyable.
I haven't even seen Episode IX.

I normally don't like to disagree with people, and I'll always prefer the Original Trilogy, but the Prequel Trilogy's lightsaber battles were pure artistry, the special effects were good, and several of the actors were worth watching; Christopher Lee, for example.

Fair enough, but I still say Hayden Christensen's bad acting (though, to be fair to him, no actor could've redeemed how badly that character was written), the cringey love story, the wasted potential characters (from what I hear, Darth Maul was put to good use in the cartoons, but I haven't watched those) and the midichlorians and the stupid chosen one thing all add up to crap.

I remember how one of my first conversations on Reddit a number of years ago was encountering someone on Prequel Memes saying that even the Chakotay/Seven of Nine romance in Star Trek Voyager was better than Anakin and Padme.
I'm like "bull fucking shit. Anakin and Padme may have been terribly written, but badly written is better than out of fucking nowhere for the finale and so far out of left field that it pissed the actors off."
Don't forget the Grevious coughing and weird grunts and sounds.

Generally speaking you can tell how old someone is by their opinion on which trilogy is best. Usually it's whichever one you saw in theatres first.

I saw Phantom Menace in theaters first, but the OT on VHS before that.
I hate the Prequels. So I never quite buy the "it's what you grew up with" argument.

it's a general rule of thumb though in this case... or at least it is from my experience. The first time I saw star wars was the OT on VHS... I saw the OT in theaters for Special Edition and every film since then in theatres.... except 9.
I thought they were all fun to be honest. Yes even the sequals had some good moments. If it helps I grew up watching and playing Star wars games and enjoying alot of other Sci - Fi media like Star Trek Next Generation, Dr Who, and for a time even watched soap opera for a while.
There is messed up dialog, story beats, and ideas in all of them, and to be honest, the last Star wars movie feels like it should have been a videogame to me instead of a film.
Yes the prequels had some fairly dumb stuff... and to be fair, all three eras of Star wars are pretty dumb. But dumb doesn't need to mean bad.
Additional after thought: It also doesn't help that we saw the stories out of order as well. I mean the prequals were the story of DARTH VADER an almighty scary Son of a *yay* who makes people like Yoda and Obiwan flinch. Look at how he appears in videogames too... the man is a walking Game Over.
Then the prequals happened.. and... yeah.
