"Use it, Pearl?"
The corner of her mouth quirked upwards into a dry smile.
"I don't use lightning, I own it." Her eyes began to crackle with electricity, the low thrum of power within her suddenly rising to levels I had never felt before. "Perhaps you'd like a demonstration."
Before any of us could move, she hit us with it. Lightning coursed through my body and for the briefest of moments I could feel nothing...and then the pain hit me so hard I could barely think beyond it.
And then it was over and I was on the floor, twitching and panting as if I'd run ten miles without pause.
Richard was much the same way, the only difference being that he was bracing himself with his hands and knees. I watched as he raised his head and sneered at Hard Iron defiantly.
She raised an eyebrow and smiled at him, a genuine surprise and respect both emanating from her.
"My, my," she began, walking slightly closer. "I put enough energy into that to bring Celestia herself to the floor. And yet somehow you remain not only perfectly conscious, but barely harmed at all." She stopped walking, her smile becoming sinister very, very quickly.
"You seem like a strong male to me, I detest strong males."
Lightning erupted from her horn and hit Richard before I could so much as blink. He couldn't stop himself from crying out in pain as its energy began to slowly force him onto his stomach.
"Yes that's better now isn't it!" Hard Iron mocked, her smile now a gleeful grin as she pumped more and more electricity into his body. "On the ground boy. On the ground and grovel to your new mare, your QUEEN!. I will torture you until you can barely remember your own name, and by the time I'm done you'll worship me as ALL HAVE DONE BEFORE YOU! NOW GROVEL, USELESS MALE!"
I was on the ground, barely able to move and feeling all the more sleepy with each passing second. And yet my eyes did not deceive me.
His eyes very suddenly glowing with power, their entirety taken over by a intimidating colour.
Not green, but red. His eyes were red.
Slowly, painfully and to the clear shock of Hard Iron...my King began to stand up.
