A New Fantasy Novel · 12:41am Apr 4th, 2021

From me, I mean.

Because, yes, there are lots of new fantasy novels out there—probably multiple dozens every week. And I suppose if I was to read one of them and find that I really enjoyed it, I could use this space to write a review or something.

But no, that's not what I'm doing. I'm writing instead about a fantasy novel I put together several years ago—before "Friendship is Magic" premiered, now that I think about. I've been trying all this time to get an agent or publisher interested in it, but having now reached the "oh, well" stage of that process, I've decided to just toss it out onto Amazon and move on with my life.

The book's called Too Long at the Faire, and here's the blurb I came up with for it:

"In a world much like ours, Ray Amalfitano works in a copy shop down the street
from Johns Hopkins University, shares an apartment with Steve, his best friend
since grade school, and dreams of the day when he'll be able to enter the Tournament
at the FaeFaire, a festival put on every year by the elves, goblins, tengu, pixies
and gnomes who comprise the Fair Folk.

That day is today."

As an added bonus, here's the cover image with art by Brandy Woods:

The book's subtitle, if you can't make it out there, is "A Story of Fate, the Fae, and Festive Combat." So if you enjoy any of those things, please feel free to purchase a copy. The paperback version's available right now, and the Kindle version will be ready, they tell me, within 72 hours.

There's always so much going on!

Oh cool! Incidentally, the images on pandora.xepher.net all seem to be broken.

As a big fan of festive combat, I'll have to check this out! :pinkiehappy:

Thanks, folks!

The Kindle edition is live now as is the "Look Inside" feature so you can read the first two-and-a-half chapters for free to see if you might like to read the rest. And thanks for the note about pandora.xepher.net: every once in a while, I accidentally replace the main index page with one of the sub-index pages, and the whole site goes quietly skeeways... :twilightblush:

Ah, good luck! :)

Got it, thanks!

I've added it to my list of non-horsewords. If I read it before I finally start that independent review blog, I'll give you an Amazon review.

Thanks, folks!

Of course, I've found a couple typos in the thing since I uploaded the files over the weekend, so I've had to re-upload them. Always so much adventure!

The Typo Hunt never ends!

It would seem I have managed to get my hands on the very last print copy on Amazon.

Actually:

Amazon was being peculiar and forced me to unpublish the original version before it would let me upload the version with fewer typos--https://www.amazon.com/Too-Long-Faire-Festive-Combat-ebook/dp/B091NK3K4N/ is the new URL. So you've got a collector's item! :pinkiehappy:

So you mean I got the one with the typos? Hah! Go figure.

But at least I know that they've been fixed in another version, so I know better than to let them bug me!
