I've been writing and selling stories for longer than a lot of folks reading this have been alive. Check Baal Bunny for more!

And One More Short Story · 10:55pm May 1st

I mean:

There'll hopefully be more short stories from me yet to come, but here's one more for now.

It's another fantasy story, and while it doesn't have any Ponies in it, it of course has a bunch of other talking animals. "The Ring of Destiny," it's called, and it's in issue #146 of Space & Time magazine.

They asked me to record a one-minute video in which I talked about myself and the story and then read a little from it. That seemed like a lot to do in a minute, but I managed to put something together even though I got the issue number wrong at the beginning of my spiel. I wasn't willing to subject anyone to a minute focused on my gruesome visage, though, so I—

Well, you can take the link in the previous paragraph and look at it if you want to. It's a Facebook video, but I think folks can view it without having to log in. Just click on the little "x" up in the corner of the big box that blocks the screen while asking you to log in, and the big box goes away quite politely, I've found.

I recorded the video with my little flip phone, so the audio's a little quiet and mushy. That's fitting, however, since I myself am rather quiet and mushy. :twilightsheepish:

Delightful to hear your voice n_n And I love your collection of objects and art, that black and white piece is especially stunning!

Wonderful to hear. I keep forgetting that not all of the people on this site are in high school/college, and that there are a few older codgers like us around. (although you write far better)

Neat! :pinkiehappy:

Thanks, folks:

I figure if I ever hafta do another video like that, I can focus on the whole shelf of Pony items. Or the whole shelf of non-Pony stuffed toys. Or the whole shelf of mixed Pony and non-Pony artwork.

Hmmm. I'm beginning to suspect that I might be a nerd of some sort... :scootangel:

That would be cool. You seem to have some very high-quality pony stuff. (Not that I'm dissing an original hardback of The Pride of Chanur!)

Nice! Glad to see you getting more of your work out there.

Ah, yes:

I found those two Cherryh hardbacks at Acres of Books in Long Beach many, many years ago. I keep meaning to track down hardback copies of the other three books in the Chanur series just to have the complete set, but till then, the paperbacks are still holding together despite repeated rereadings.

Thanks!

The editor of Space & Time does a neat little Substack newsletter called Authortunities that has a lot of markets I've never heard of. So I'm sending stuff out like a crazy person!

Acres of Books? Oh man, I loved that place!

For three years in a row:

In the early 1980s, my dad decided to take us all up to Acres of Books on a weekend that turned out, unbeknownst to any of us, to also be the weekend of the Long Beach Grand Prix. It was uncanny. :twilightoops:
