Two Poems and Two Short Stories · 10:31pm April 19th

None of these:

Are related to Pony in any way, but here I am mentioning them nonetheless. :twilightsheepish:

The first poem comes in response to a call from the California poet laureate. Last year, he asked CA residents to write poems about the parts of the state where they lived, so I wrote one about my hometown, Newport Beach. The whole collection went up last Wednesday, all organized by county, and mine's in the Orange County section, the second poem down on the left-hand side.

The second poem and the first short story are both included in vol.3 no.1 of Journ-E, The Journal of Imaginative Literature. I wrote a blog post about the de-Ponyfied story I had published in vol.2 no.2 of this same magazine, but this story's more in the vein of traditional "sword & sorcery" with a warrior woman and a talking crow trying to track down a mad wizard. The poem's a triolet in a science-fiction mode based around the "many worlds interpretation" of quantum theory. 'Cause what else're you gonna write poems about?

The second short story, now that I think about it, owes its appearance to our very own Georg, so I guess there is a Pony connection after all. He sent me a DM back in Feb. of 2023 talking about an anthology of fantasy detective stories that was looking for submissions. I had one I'd written years ago and had never been able to sell to anyone, so I gave it a try, and they bought it. It's called Tales of Mystery: Dead for a Spell, and if you go to the Amazon page there and click on the "Read sample" bar under the cover image, paging down far enough will let you read the first couple scenes of my story since it's the second on in the collection.

So much going on!

Dang, you have been busy. n_n

It's a good reminder that you've been in the game for a long time before you ever started writing the horsewords.

It's constantly astonishing to me:

I placed these stories and poems over the course of six or seven months last year, and they're all coming out at pretty much the same time. I just got word that another story should be appearing in a magazine that gets released next Saturday! So it sounds like I'm busier than I'd say that I really am...
