As you know, I normally don't talk politics but this time I will. Because this time this... 'bill' would have affected me if I was in Alabama and a few years younger.

The two bills would make it a felony for medical professionals to treat transgender minors under the age of 19 with gender-affirming care. Violators could face up to 10 years in prison or a $15,000 fine.
The bill also requires school staff in the state to disclose to parents that "a minor's perception that his or her gender is inconsistent with his or her sex." Essentially, teachers would be required to "out" transgender students to their guardians — regardless of whether they are ready to do so.
This was proposed by internalized bigotry and people who do not understand the tribulations of gender reassignement. I'm going to give you a hypothetical. What if you were forcibly outed, in high school or worse in middle school? What if you had a child who one day decided to change their gender and realized they couldn't do so until they were 20?
I'd like you all to share this image below, and if you're in Alabama -and if you are my heart goes out to you- to call your local legislators right now. This absolutely cannot stand.

Yeah, the legal age in Alabama is 19 for whatever reason.
This is definitely a case of trying to legislate ones morality and ideology into the lives of the citizens. They call it the Child Protection Act? Why not have it protect children from bullying, stalking and cyber bullying? Why not offer and provide the councelling and health care they need, whether it is gender reassignment, hormone treatment or pregnancy prevention?
Is it not more responsible to help and understand rather than to punish? Being trans is not a crime...it is how and what a person is!
How these leaders can be allowed to do this, under the giuse of protection is just beyond my understanding of being a human being. What is next? Banning and burning books or music that they don't approve of? Telling you what to wear? Where to live? Segregating people by race or religion?
The American South has always been a generally backward thinking place. I know, because I've endured living here most of my life. But if this is allowed to stand, you may as well let them reenact Jim Crow laws and let them become a police state. They aren't that far from it.
And if it does, I'll be leaving for good. About time, anyway.

Hormone blockers are used to delay puberty and prevent permanent changes to the body until a child has time to decide. This bill actually forces transgender youth to mature into the wrong gender, causing irreversible harm. Saying they're doing it to "protect kids" is pure horseshit.
If we killed all transphobes we wouldn’t have this issue

Better to educate I think, as it is entirely possible to change hearts and minds. Remember, I used to have some unfortunately bigoted views before I changed my attitude.
