    I'm done for a while

Yesterday I made a blog and, to put it lightly, it took less than six hours for it to turn into an absolute shitshow. That blog was specifically to air the fact that I was feeling a personal crisis of conscience and was largely mocked for it where the blog's comment section didn't just dissolve into a batshit fucking loco mess of luchadores on ketamine baiting trolls and then getting run over by

    Update Bug: We Are Legion

For some reason Fimfiction is timestamping the recent updates for Legion as being half a year ago, so if you’re not getting updates, that’s why.

    Secrets of Legion

Alright everyone we're taking a short break from Dead by Midnight to learn exactly what it is that happened to the CMC that led to their descent into Killer-dom as the savage Legion. I'm going to be posting two chapters a week on Tuesdays/Thursdays. Hope you all enjoy reading their story.

    Cheers,

Have an early chapter! Also, y'all, we're better than halfway through the first act of Dead by Midnight, and I hope you all have been having a good time thus far. This is definitely a massive endeavor, writing this story, partially because there is so much external canon to adopt, not even from the original game but from my own writings. Really, I only have myself to blame for writing so many side-stories but to be frank I can't really help it.

If I have an idea for how something should go or would have gone, I have to put it down in words, at least in some form. That doesn't mean you all have to read it obviously. I'm sure there's a lot of people who are reading Dead by Midnight who haven't read After Sunset, for instance, which is why I do my best to make Dead by Midnight so self-contained. I want the side-stories to exist as a kind of ancillary reading that, if you want to know more about something that happened in the world, you're free to peruse it. I want you, the readers and my audience, to know that the histories I'm referencing in this story aren't just things I'm alluding to, but are actual recorded events in the canon somewhere in my library.

With that said, if you're not sure where to look, the group where I keep them all collected is right here. That link takes you to the FimFiction group where you can see both main stories and every side story I have written in my Dead by Sunset Canon.

But my point is that I don't want to make this series impenetrable. Sure, if you want to know what's going on in Dead by Midnight one could reasonably assume you'd have to read Dead by Sunset. Sequels work like that. But I don't want you to have to do 100,000 words of extra stuff just to understand what's going on in the main story. If I'm doing this right, everything in Dead by Midnight is pretty approachable even if you haven't read a word of the side-stories I've written.

With that said, as we encroach on the last parts of Act I, I'd like to take this time to announce the next side-story that will be coming out once I've posted the last chapter of Dead by Midnight Act I: Darkness Among Us.

By the time we hit the end, the truth of the Thief's merry band of Killers will be revealed, but if any of you know me at all, you'll know I'm not just going to allude to the truth of the matter. I'm going to write it.

So with great pleasure, I'd like to inform you all that once Act I is finished, we'll finally learn the full story behind the three murderhobos, and discover exactly why...

We Are Legion

Cheers,

I-A-M

Take you time we greatly appreciate all the time, effort, passion and hard work you put into these stories! You’re an amazing writer in my opinion and shout out to anybody helping you out as well! It’s been great sharing this journey reading these stories along with you and everyone else. Can’t wait to see what curveball you through at us next in future chapters haha. Stay safe and remember we all support you friend!

:pinkiegasp:
Another side fic??
Sweet!
Looking forward to it!

I really respect the sheer AMOUNT of side stories you do for the DbS continuity. Sure it doesnt add to the main story, but it helps the whole universe feel so much more fleshed out, which just generally feels nice

"I hope you all have been having a good time thus far."
Aye, thanks! :D

"Sure, if you want to know what's going on in Dead by Midnight one could reasonably assume you'd have to read Dead by Sunset."
I don't think that's actually been that much of a problem for me, actually! If that's a useful data point for you. Granted, I have been through four out of six of the side stories, but your efforts to make Dead by Midnight so self-contained may be applying here too.
(Though I suppose it is possible that there are things I'm so thoroughly missing that I don't even suspect I'm missing them.
And certainly, I can imagine I'm not getting as much depth on some details as I might otherwise; I can just compare how I received some parts of the story connecting with side stories I read with how I might have received them had I not read those side stories.
But still, there's at least enough in the combination of what I've read that I'm not scratching my head in bafflement or the like even without having read the first story, and I think, at least as far as I'm remembering at the moment, you've been doing that pretty smoothly too (rather than with, say, some sort of obvious "And here are details for people who didn't read the previous book" section at the beginning).)

"If I'm doing this right, everything in Dead by Midnight is pretty approachable even if you haven't read a word of the side-stories I've written."
See above. :)

Thanks for the updates, and your consideration. :)

And now, off to the chapter! :D
