Raise a glass to freedom...
What a fine evening to impeach a selfish, evil loser for a historic second time. What a great day for the House to cast the most bipartisan impeachment in history. What a gorgeous night for that jackass narcissist to finally, finally face some consequences for everything he's wrought on the world.
I hope you're all staying safe and raising a glass somewhere. Here in Ontario, Canada, it's a rum and Sprite. And okay, while I'm hoisted up here on my little soapbox: I think we see victories like this, towards the countries we want to live in, not only by defeating those who make themselves the enemies of our ideals, but by building up those who make themselves our allies. And, in turn, examining and building ourselves up just the same. Day by day.
Soapbox over. Enjoy your drinks 🍻
Stay empathetic,

Does sparkling cider count?
Happy Canada Day.
I'm getting Sprite.
If they actually manage to remove that stain on the history of the USA from office via the impeachment, it will mean he can not only never run for presidency again, he will be stripped of his post presidency stipend and security. It sickens me that there are still people in this country that still support that narcissistic, demented, sociopathic atrocity, but I'll take what we can get.

::nods:: We'll wait and see on that, I guess. We'd need about 17 Republican senators to cast a bipartisan vote to remove him and bar him from holding any future office, which isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility, given the... everything. But yeah, like you said, it's probably not going to be an easy effort.
He's definitely facing legal consequences for massive tax fraud in the State of New York, and his dodged campaign debts to individual cities are looming, so at least some of his countless crimes are catching up to him.
But yeah, the MAGA cult is another issue entirely. While I was raising a glass (virtually) with Bevin last night, she sent over this video that describes the problem perfectly.
Deprogramming the lies, disinformation, and conspiracy theories rampant among the far-right media ecosystem and its brainwashed followers is going to take time and a lot of effort. How do you raise the bar for truth and evidence-based conclusions when they take pride in keeping it below ground? Or teach basic human empathy for people with different experiences than you?
So much of the right seems to think the rest of us want to censor or cancel them so they're up their own asses with ego about maintaining their right to free speech (which they clearly don't understand doesn't stop them from facing consequences after they say something, especially if what you say leads to a crime; and even if it isn't criminal it's like, your government can't arrest you for saying something that makes you an asshole, but don't act surprised when no one wants to be around you).
The short-term solution is letting them face some consequences, but the long-term road to recovery has to also come from the right, I think. People realizing and normalizing that they need a higher burden of proof for the things they believe. Not worshipping any one politician like a god who's going to save all the things you care about. Basic stuff.

Also, most people are cowards and will deny their beliefs if attacked. So it makes sense you thought I was "Schrodinger's Douchebag."
