B_25. That's the guy who has half of his stories under the Porn tab, right?
He said he was leaving and deleting his account within 24 hours as of several days ago, then changed his mind on deleting it, then changed it again and said he's giving his stories to Dirty Little Secret, and apparently changed his mind again (and his username) and will leave the account in place under the name "Not B_25". Until he actually leaves, I feel like it's just a call for attention and drama. His decisions about it seem to be very impulsive and fickle.
I don't think he was a big-name author, but the one I miss the most would be CyborgSamurai. He started an ambitious story in 2012, The Powers of Harmony, and got pretty far into it, then in 2013 had to leave for two years. He left the story incomplete with the promise that he'd come back and finish it after those two years, and it was one I was looking forward to as it did a huge amount of world-building and was internally consistent. Unfortunately, when he did come back in 2015, he stated that he was unable to continue writing it because "he was no longer in that place/mindset" and it has sat as canceled for five years despite the author himself still being active.
Well, for now I'm thinking of two persons:

- Nosfrat - he didn't leave this site, but he no longer writes.
As a devoted follower of B_25 I was struck by the decision.
But if you followed his blogs over the past 12 months, it's not exactly a surprise.
We had a lot of great conversations, and tons of great interactions in private discord messages.
But to be honest, recently I began to feel like he was ignoring me.
I DM-ed him several times on this site only to get no replies, as well as on Discord and again received no replies. I thought I had done something wrong, but idk.
As well as the fact that I had commissioned a story from him, as well as one that was meant to be ongoing, but it seems now it will die.
I might take up writing it on my own as idk, he says he's leaving, but then doesn't, but then is leaving his account to someone else.
Don't get me wrong, I love his writing and think he is a great member of the community.
But idk, personally I feel like he began ignoring me and purposefully not responding when I was making general inquiries or just looking to strike up friendly conversation, it came off in some instances as seeming rude.
This was before, AND after I became a patreon subscriber of his.
But again idk, maybe he was going through stuff at the time. I personally would try and reply to someone, if they were asking a question to me, or inquiring about something, instead of ignoring them.
I will miss B_25, but one of the ones I miss the most is DarkWing.
Aegis Shield, NFire, Primrose, Kiroberos, Zaibatsu, GnollReader, and Pen Mightier. Just a few of the writers I follow that have left. So many un-finished fics :(
Many, it is depressing yes.
I forget exactly how big of a writer he was, but I do miss Rainbow Bob. Guy sorta just... Disappeared.
Unfortunately, we may have just taken another casualty lately too...
I miss Tystarr, Bad_Seed_72, Hoopy McGee, and Lapis-Lazuli. Bucking Nonsense just quit like a month ago as well, sadly. They're not as big, but I'll also miss Blackwater, Luminary, 8_bit, Hopefox, Adder1 and Fluttershy20. I thought I missed Azu, but ehhhhh. Not all of them are truly gone, some have just been mostly inactive for quite a while.

I think big name writers are anti social to some degree. Bronies in general are somewhat anti social. What we like is not 'normal'. Football and soap operas are what 'normal people' like.

I still remember TAW. I didn't read all their stuff but I read a fair bit. What bugs me more is when these writers who've written these stories beloved by so many say "meh, I'm done with horse shit" and proceed to delete it all. Absolutely fuck every. Single. Writer who does that.

I completely agree. Screw that behavior. There's one user, whose story I loved, who just took down a story without even leaving the site because they were unsatisfied with it. When they actually did become inactive later, they didn't even put the story back up. Which is even more infuriating than usual! Like, leave if you really want too, but at least leave your work that people loved! To do otherwise is a serious dick move. I will not apologize for saying this.

It was called Colors of the Heart, by Azu. It was an OC x Canon story, but I ended up liking it far more than I than I expected after I started reading it on a whim. It was such a shame when the author took it down. It still frustrates me slightly. Azu is still around every so often after I thought she left for good, but doesn't do any writing anymore.

I've told her I loved her writing, but I did not actually ask for it to be put back up. Multiple other people have asked for it to be put back up, to no avail. It's just as well, the story remained unfinished, when Azu ran out of writing motivation... Fortunately though, I have a way to still view the story on another site.

Oh. Well that's good. Just go make a copy for yourself in case they remove it from there, too. It's also a good idea to download copies of any particularly good stories you enjoy on here for the same reason. Especially the really long ones. Just in case. I've got a few dozen that I've downloaded over the years. Makes for good reading when the internet's out and I don't feel like playing any games.
