Rambling About #1 - It finally happened!* · 6:29am Sep 25th, 2020
I know this is a silly thing. I KNOW it is. I know it's something that's become increasingly easier to achieve given the lower number of people in the fandom, but damn it if I'm not going to savor this little moment. After being on this website for almost 8 years, it happened.
I got in the featured box *after turning off the mature box check
Finally, some petty achievement to be momentarily proud of. 
In any case, wanted to talk a bit about this story, since I was planning to make this even if this featured thing didn't happen. I know no one cares, but I wanted to keep this for posterity, even if only for myself.
Firstly, this story went through a number of changes as many stories tend to go. It started off being somewhat serious, until my brain suddenly said nah, go and make it silly and this was the result of it. I heavily debated using Pinkie Pie, but I felt that it wouldn't fit the overly ridiculous nature of the story's world if I used a character who's already super silly. Who better than to show the world's madness than the most logical pony? Went a little nuts with it, but it was simply for fun, honestly.
I originally wanted to include Harry the bear, but then it ended up not happening, as having too many characters in a story as short as this one really messes with me. I end up trying to force the character to interact with everyone else, and it just leads to padding that's unnecessary. Much like this blog! I love padding my own dumb blog words!
Anyway, here's an excerpt
she refused to speak with us, telling us that instead, and I quote ‘I ain’t talking to no stinkin’ cops. Get out of here you pigs.”
Twilight opened her mouth to speak, but air came out before she could utter: “Wait, r-really?”
“Well, no,” he admitted, “But that’s what our guy officially wrote after we tried talking to her,” McGuffin explained, shrugging to Twilight.
“I…” Twilight said, baffled. “Why in Celestia’s name would he do that?”
“Probably because he was angry he was almost mauled by the bear.”
Twilight blinked. “What? What bear?”
“The one to my left,” he pointed out, the moment he had done so making Twilight hyper aware of the bear she had completely missed and was clearly there, watching them, the beast two times Twilight’s size, the warmth of its breath reaching her even where she stood. “Now, please do try to be careful, Princess, we really wouldn’t want you to get hurt. We also wouldn’t want to file another report, because boy, let me tell you, those are annoying to fil—‘
Walking past McGuffin, Twilight went directly to the bear, its frame even larger standing from up close. In an instant, they locked eyes; Twilight’s pretty princess eyes staring into the bear’s wild, beady yellow ones, his expressionless face masking any sort of feelings. What seemed to be a very long time later, Twilight slowly opened her mouth as if to speak.
There was more to this that I unfortunately deleted, but as it turns out, I wanted to make Harry and Twilight hold a longer conversation that was just unnecessary, so I got rid of it... among other things.
Can you believe this story took me two months to write? I'm slow okay.
Anyway, yeah, that's about it. I probably have more, but it's mostly passing thoughts, including a story idea that came to me while writing this. Looking at the doc, the short excerpt is still there, which makes me chuckle every time I get to it. It's funnier because I'm actually seriously thinking of writing it.
Yeah... I think I wanna tackle another long story again. It's been long enough, so, look forward to that! But enough meandering, you guys read enough. Thank you for all the years of support! Er, consider this post my early 8th year anniversary post... yeah, let's go with that.
