It's been 3,000 years...
Okay, maybe it hasn't been that long, but it sure does feel like it! Now, I don't have a particular excuse for being as not-alive as I could be (other than the very obvious reasons) but I do have SOMETHING to say: I have a completed draft of a story. That's right! I actually have a story mostly done! I basically have to go through the draft and just fix it accordingly, but this has been a long process given my lack of confidence in my writing... yeah, it's that thing again. Feel free to skip the spoilered part, as it is simply me airing my grievances—I understand some aren't fans of it.
As it stands, I've been lacking the confidence in my writing for a very, very long time now. As much as I'm writing for myself and others to enjoy, I'm also doing it for others to see, hoping they enjoy it, with a part of me expecting people to love it. This leads to unrealistic hopes that just end up wrecking me sometimes, even for a little bit. I suppose I'm just scared to find out that I haven't improved as much as I had hoped. Having been doing this for eight years now (seriously, that's when I originally started writing. Full stop) it's been a process I've been wrestling with, and it just doesn't go away
In any case, my new story is going to be a romance. It's something I've dabbled in somewhat, but haven't had some sort of romantic aspect to it as a bigger focus. Honestly, it's a story that I feel is currently lacking on the romance as it is, but one I still consider a romance, if that makes sense. Maybe I just need to "pony up" and show it to some sort of pre-reader/editor to properly educate me on my current writing... yeah, maybe I should do that.
Anyway, that's it for today! Story should be out within the week, barring any incidents I truly hope don't happen!
