Quick note on the Martian... · 5:23am Sep 21st, 2020
... no, not announcing a new print edition (though I have been idly thinking about it... I'd have to get permission to re-use the artwork from the hardbacks or else commission new work, though).
But I read through comment threads again sometimes, and new comments tend to gravitate to the same places, it seems... which had me thinking of "favorite scenes".
Based on fan reaction as I see it, I'm pretty sure you readers liked best, in no particular order: the Summer Sun Celebration party; Dragonfly's awakening; "Home"; Operation Fireboom; and Phoenix Mission Day 22.
But the more I look back on the story, the more I keep coming back to one bit of writing that I'm especially proud of. It doesn't advance the plot one iota, and its themes are repeated a couple times elsewhere in the story, but if I edit the story down to a single-volume novel, it stays in come hell or high water.
I'm talking about Sol 303.
Just felt like putting that out there.
(BTW, on gaming issues, Monday and Wednesday will be me trying to wrap up the current Stellaris gamesave. If the votes are there to continue it into October, I'll be doing a new game-save with ponies, but NOT playing as a pacifist faction, to try to get more excitement into the stream.
(And after me shouting on-stream Saturday night last, I'm done with Equestria at War. The flaws of Hearts of Iron 4 have become too great for me to put up with. Thursday I take the main streaming compy to a local compy shop for a CPU transplant, so Saturday will be something else... ANYTHING else... on the laptop.
(All streams begin 7 PM Central: https://twitch.tv/redneckgaijin )
Sol 303 as a whole or one particular part thereof? Just curious.
The awe of exploration and discovery is pretty awesome.
I had a feeling it was the "see a real waterfall" chapter, so I checked, and I was right.
Kris, did you ever played in FOE:Remains? If not, can you try it on the next game stream? It didn't have big hardware requirements, so laptop should be fine. Although i recommend using mouse.
Ah yes, that was a good one. Pretty much sums up the why of exploration really.
That brings to mind...
That was a nice one, aye. :)
I like the one where Bugs steals the space modulator.
5360151 No, I haven't. I'm not fond of dystopia or post-apocalyptic stories in general, and even less so of FPS games, so I've touched neither the original Fallout game series nor the core Fallout Equestria stories. But I'm willing to put this platformer on the poll for October.
