So, episode three is nothing new. Not even to the My Little Pony franchise, there was an episode of Tales that used the same plot (still need to watch that show). But plots need not be original to be entertaining.
This is a hard episode to review, because a good deal of it lives and dies on its jokes. There were some good bits, like Twilight picking the petals off the flower, then casually eating them, and Pinkie dropping any sense of subtlety when buttering Twilight up. This is hardly laugh out loud, however.
Something I never noticed before is the fact that Spike stops just short of reading the month the Gala takes place in. Guess they figured a pony calendar wouldn't have month names rooted in Greek (then again, as Amras Felagund pointed out, a society run by ponies wouldn't be using a base ten counting system.
And yeah, there was the weird part of every pony having telekinesis. The usual early episode weirdness.
Now, real criticism, I'm not too sure about the end. Not Twilight getting more tickets (it makes sense she could), but Twilight making the decision to give up hers. It supposed to show what a good friend she is, but it's a bit hollow since these were the same friends acting like selfish jerks all episode. Presenting that as the right solution is a little iffy.
So far, a bit mediocre.
I kind of assumed that it wasn't that everypony was telekinetic, but rather that the tickets were enchanted.
Honestly, I took her giving up hers as "Fighting over the tickets gave the whole thing a bad taste, so unless something changed she just didn't want to go anymore."

Then why did Twilight's and Rarity's horns glow?
Really, I could see Twilight giving up her ticket since she felt it was more trouble than it was worth if an extra one made all her friends fight (although are we sure Celestia didn't plan for Twilight to invite Spike?).

Errrrrr...they are booth one entity, maybe ? Like, one wedding invite to a whole family ?

Magic item floats over to you? You try and catch it.
Just on the base-ten point: It's entirely possible for a pony society to develop this base. Imagine a pony's four hooves as having different values, 1, 2, 3, and 4, then just do some simple addition and watch base-ten materialize before your eyes!

That's my new headcanon

I guess I could see that, but I don't think that's what the show was going for.
This was a fun episode, and it began the season-long story arc of everypony preparing for the Grand Galloping Gala. Looking back, it is kind of funny how far off the Mane Six were in their assumptions of what the Gala would be like.
