Welp, if I've heard things correctly, the Derpibooru portion of the fandom is splintering.
Here are my thoughts.
Site owners and admins: If you're going to make rule changes, inform your moderators. If you don't, you're fucking idiots. Also, don't flip flop on those rules three times. If you do, you're fucking idiots.
Artists: If you add your art to DNP lists as a knee-jerk reaction to a site not aligning with your exact political views and committing wrongthink, then you're fucking idiots. If you support the very fucking dangerous, slippery slope of censorship in any form, you're a fucking idiot.
Users: If you see content you find objectionable or you otherwise don't like, and you don't use the filter functionality, then you're fucking idiots.

TLDR: Some "news" site published an article saying bronies were nazis.
Some artist who cant draw eyebrows for shit made a pic about it and shortly after the admins couldn't agree on whether or not free speech was a good idea.
At least I think that pic was one if not the only trigger for this bullshit.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I don't really go on Derpi that much, so I'm just kinda 'meh' at the whole thing.
I read the article, too, though. And there was actually another one after it. Don't really remember where they are, but the whole thing was just kinda bullshit.

It was saying how we’re dealing with racial extremists that have burrowed into parts of the online community, taking advantage of the fandom’s inclusivity. As well as the general “anything goes attitude” on internet message and image boards.

Derpibooru discord server still occasionally gets its drama there.
Well, so far only 2 times where people post memes and get angry that the mods and admins and other crazy stuff that I try not to dwell into that much.
The general chat has to have a 15 minute cooldown and the memes channel usually becomes the general channel.
It's crazy...
