Unfortunate News about Good Burger: Ed's Misadventures in Equestria · 7:54pm Jun 28th, 2020

Hey everyone. For those who come to this blog after seeing the latest “chapter” or just receiving this message in general, I can confirm with a heavy heart that Good Burger: Ed’s Misadventures in Equestria… is canceled. :ajsleepy:

…let me explain. Years ago, I was still new to writing stories for this site. I was experimenting with what to write and wasn’t as experienced as I am now. I did very well and succeed with the first few stories I wrote for a site, even though some of them made me cringe after reading them again years later. Because I wrote so many Equestria Girls stories, I decided to write one for MLP. I even decided to do a crossover from another series that no one ever used before just to add a little spin to the genre.

This is where Good Burger comes in.

I remember watching the original All That when I was young and Good Burger skit was usually my favorite from of the show. And I even love the Good Burger Movie when it first came out, which I still watch it sometimes today (which is a guilty pleasure of mine.) I figured how fun (and funny) it would be when the MLP characters tried to order food from Ed, only for him to drive them bonkers due to his antics. So that’s what I did. I wrote my story, Can I Take Your Order? And then I post it.

To my shock and happiness, not only my story was a hit, but also for the first time, one of my stories is featured on the Featured List!

I was ecstatic! I never thought that my story would ever be on the list! And I was pleased that a lot of readers enjoyed it. So when I received requests to write a sequel, naturally I complied and wrote a multi-chapter sequel as an extension of that one-shot.

So I wrote the first few chapters of the story and things were great. But then… I had a writer’s block. I decided to take a break from it and put focus on my other story (which was The Three Castaways at the time). As the years gone by, I was on and off again with that story to the point that it felt more like a chore to write a new chapter. Most of the time, I was writing this as I go, but I don’t have any concrete plans with this story since my ideas kept changing over the years. At this point, I’m just forcing ideas into it for the sake of finishing it. In hindsight, I was being too quick to decide to write an extension story about a bumbling teenager who constantly messed up the food orders at a burger joint that happened to get teleported to another world.

Bottom line, I don’t have the same motivation to write this story, than I did back in 2016. Because of lack of motivation and the whole idea and plans for this story became a huge mess, I just couldn’t bring myself to finish it. For the first time in my fan fiction career, I’ve decided to cancel my story.

I hate the idea of canceling my stories, but I’m completely burned out from this story. I also don’t want to give you all any false hope on it either. I don’t want to be like most of the authors out there who suddenly went ghost and never give any updates about the status of their stories, leaving their fellow readers in the dust. I don’t want to do that to you my fellow readers, which is why I’m writing this message. I know you’re all sad and disappointed with this news (and believe me, so am I), but it was all for the best.

While I no longer will be continuing this story, I won’t leave you all without some kind of closure from this story. Which is why I’m also posting my footnotes/ideas (of what’s left of it) on what and how this story could possibly ended if you are ever interested. Like I said, my ideas was a little bit of a mess:

So while Ed dealt with Spoiled at the Hay Burger, Lyra, who was caught by everypony, explained that she was keeping tabs on Ed to learn more about the humans. It was also because she was trying to fulfill her mother’s dream of writing a documentary about humans from another world before she disappeared after she was publicly ridiculed. The gang agreed to let her interviewed Ed, as long as she didn’t go too far with her interview and to keep the portal to the human world a secret.

Soon, Flash and Ed returned from work where Flash explained his lie about Ed pretending to mistake orders for the sake of a publicity stunt for the restaurant. At first, the girls didn’t appreciate Flash lying to the ponies in Ponyville, but then Twilight realized by doing that, the ponies will easily warm up to him and encouraged him to keep up with the act until Ed returns home.

Somewhere from within Ponyville, two ponies exchanged information about Ed and theorizing how he got to Equestria. They planned to keep tabs on the girls and Ed so they’ll have one step closer to rule Equestria. We soon learned that it was Blueblood and Spoiled of not only as the main “bad guys”, but also implied that they had a secret affair.

This is where things were foggy for me. I originally planned to have Ed to bond with each of the Mane Six and Starlight per chapter with usual hijinks, but I couldn’t properly planned it out. Other Pinkie Pie, Rarity or even with Rainbow Dash, I couldn’t come up with anything for each girls.

There were also some hijinks in between like Spoiled tried (and failed) to get more info from Ed, Derpy wanted to hand out with Ed, Lyra interviews with Ed, Ed being interviewed by DJPon-3’s radio show, but most of them were fillers. The only thing that has some bearing to the plot was Flash bonding with Ed and Ed somehow helped Flash get a date with Princess Twilight, which the two of them actually got along.

Eventually, the main gala arrived at Twilight castle arrived, but the portal still wasn’t fixed yet. So half of girls tried to teach Ed to behaved while the other half and Twilight to entertained the guests. To Twilight’s surprise, Princess Celestia and Blueblood appeared at the party along with Princess Luna. When Twilight tried to talk to Princess Celestia, Celestia acted a bit cold and distant than usual. Luna explained that her just got back from her trip to another country, believing that she was grumpy from the trip, even though Twilight pointed out that Celestia rarely felt grumpy after every royal trips. There were usual hijinks and Blueblood tried to make Ed looked like a fool and a threat, but he inadvertently made Ed popular and won the ponies over, including Fancy Pants.

Here is where I wanted to use the tomato joke for that scene from the movie with Fancy Pants after he requested Ed for a Good Burger:

Fancy Pants took the burger from Ed with his magic and inspected it. He frowned as soon as he opened the bun off of the burger.

“I say, there are no tomatoes on it,” said Fancy Pants. “I usually eat my burgers with tomatoes.”

“Oh, hang on!” Ed said quickly.

He dug into his pants pocket to retrieve a couple slices of tomatoes before plopping them on Fancy’s burger, much to most of ponies’ shock.

“Here ya go! Considered yourself tomatoed! Heh!” Ed laughed.

Fancy raised his brow. “…you’re a strange fellow aren’t ya?”

And of course, Fancy liked the burger and everyone celebrated except for Blueblood and Celestia, who the latter thinks that Ed was acting like a “buffoon” before leaving, much to Twilight’s shock. Luna reassured that Celestia didn’t mean it and that she’ll talk to her after she rested. Flash also comforted Twilight that she did an amazing job as a ruler and a friend, even if Celestia disagreed. Twilight appreciated her friends and Flash’s words before retiring.

While everyone was asleep, Flash secretly went to the back of the castle to meet up with somepony, who turned out to be Blueblood. It is revealed (to the audience) that Flash was secretly working with Blueblood the whole time, all because Blueblood promised Flash that he’ll get Flash’s old job back as a royal guard and he’ll get rid of that “annoying ape”. While Flash was leaking information about Ed to Blueblood, he was actually feeling guilty because he view Ed less like a nonsense and more of a friend. So Flash only told him some parts of the portal before they parted ways, not realizing that Spike was spying them from the bushes.

The next day, Flash was ready to confess what he did to the girls, only to meet with many furious faces. Twilight angrily berates him that she knew he lied and using them just to get his old job and that she couldn’t believe that she trusted him after finally opening up to him. Before anything else happened, the royal guards stormed in under Blueblood’s orders and placed them all under arrest for withholding information to the crown and assisting the enemy. Only Flash, Spike, Lyra, Starlight and Trixie escapes and managed to retrieved Ed from the Hay Burger before he got captured too. Unfortunately, Blueblood found the mirror and planned to use t back at Canterlot.

Everypony (except Ed) laments that they’re now most wanted criminals of Canterlot, but Flash has a plan to save the girls. Everypony understandably didn’t trust Flash at first, but after Ed vouched for Flash that he is a good friend despite what happened earlier, they decided to give it a chance and headed to Canterlot.

At the palace, Blueblood, along with Spoiled revealed that he single-handedly manipulated everything so that he is the sole ruler with Celestia’s approval. The Mane Six called out on his claim and actually tried to escape, but not before Twilight was stuck by Celestia, who revealed herself to be none other than Queen Chrysalis.

She explained that she and Blueblood had a deal that if she helped him overruled his aunt, she’ll be the one to rule Equestria and have huge love supply for her “loyal” Changelings. Blueblood revealed that his tricked his aunt of signing a “birthday message” to a prince from another country, only to be a royal degree that he’ll take over in disguise. He knew about that there is another world and was planning to take over and rule it with a clean slate. Blueblood even revealed that he purposely ruined the one pony’s life (Lyra’s mother) to keep her from talking about the humans.

Yeah… the forged part was lame, but I didn’t planned things out well at the time. And the changelings twist was planned from the beginning and I originally tried to leave subtle hints throughout the story especially with the way “Celestia” was acting.

After that explanation, the guards revealed themselves to be the evil changelings this whole time and our heroes were taken to the dungeon… along with Spoiled. Blueblood revealed that the reason he backstabbed her was because she was “no longer any use to him”. Unfortunately for Blueblood, Chrysalis ended up backstabbing him, declaring that he is “no longer any use to her” and had enough of his snob entitlement and taking all the credit of all her hard work. She also wanted to take over the human world and be the Queen of both worlds. Everyone got locked up in the dungeon, along with the other princesses, including the real Princess Celestia while Chrysalis headed back to the throne room to get the mirror working for her takeover to Ed’s dimension.

Meanwhile, Ed and the gang eventually made it to Canterlot and planned to sneak into the castle. The wanted to break in to the castle, but they couldn’t use magic of flight for some reason when they neared the castle. Here is where I wanted so badly to use the same joke from the movie of how Ed breaks in Mondo Burger. Here’s a sample:

“Ed? ED?” Flash called.

“I’m up here!”

Everypony looked up and was shocked to see Ed at the top of the castle’s roof, waving at them with a huge smile.

“ED! How the hay did you get up there!?”

Ed perked up. “Oh it’s easy! You hopped up on that rock, climbed up that wall to get on that side roof. Then you jump on that other roof, then that statue, then hopped on the slightly taller building and then shimmy up on that flagpole.”

Everyone stared up at Ed in disbelief.

“What is this… Equestria’s Ninja Warriors!?” Spike exclaimed.

Despite the absurdness of Ed’s plan, it works and they got themselves into the castle. They eventually rescued the others (except Blueblood and Spoiled) and fought their way to the thrones room. During the final battle, I was debating to have Ed use the mirror to bring back other character from All That as cameos to fight off the Changelings. Those characters include: Super Dude, Repairman-man, Detective Dan, Ashley, Boring Man, Jack Campbell (Fat Cop), and Coach Kreeton (for comedic purposes).

While everyone/everypony fought the Changelings (in Coach Kreeton case, getting beat up), Twilight, Flash and Ed had a final battle with Queen Chrysalis. I forget how the battle goes, but Ed and the others eventually won with Chrysalis fled the scene (again) while her army was taken to the dungeon so that they’ll be transported to the Changeling hive’s prison later. Both Blueblood and Spoiled are severally punished for their actions. Spoiled were taking into prison for betraying Equestria while Filthy Rich divorced her after finding out about the affair while Blueblood was also taken to prison, but not before he was stripped from his royal title and was disowned from the royal family.

Everyone celebrated for their victory. Lyra finally fulfilled her and her mother's dream and her mother's name no longer ostracized, Flash and Twilight made up and became a couple and Flash decided to turn down Celestia’s offer to become the Royal Guard again and decided to become the sole manager of the Hay Burger, which is now renamed Good Burger in Ed’s honor.

They eventually fixed the portal and after heartfelt goodbyes, Ed transported back to his home. Once Ed transported to Good Burger, Mr. Baily asked him how was his vacation (implying that Ed was gone for three months), Ed happily talked out his time at Equestria and ponies, leaving Mr. Baily having a severe headache in disbelief, declaring that he needed vacation. The last scene of the story is when six familiar girls and one newcomer walked into Good Burger (implying a brief Equestria Girls cameo). Ed simply smiled at them and said, “Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger. Can I take your order?”

And that was it. This basically how the story ended in a nutshell. I hope that was a good of a closure as it could get. I’m sorry again for canceling this story, but I have to move on. While this story sadly ended, that doesn't mean that I won't stop writing other stories, so I hope you all look forward to what I came up with next.

Anyway, with the cancellation of this story, my original Good Burger one-shot story, Can I Take Your Order? is no longer a sidequel or any relation to this story. It will be marked as a standalone. I am also forever grateful to my original Good Burger story for being the first of putting me on the Featured List!

For those who stuck around for this story, I wanted to thank you all for following and supporting this story, even though this will never finish. You are all the best!

And most importantly: Stay safe!

Edit: When I said that I won't stop writing other stories, I do NOT mean I'm writing another Good Burger story. I'm moving on to different kind of stories. Sorry for any confusion.

It was for the best, I laughed so hard when I first read the one shot of good burger. I know it happens with mostly almost any story which we like, but I hope in the future you recover inspiration and create a new one shot of good burger to make us laugh hard again. XD

kidding. I hope you enjoy your writing like all the stories you did. Good luck dude. You are the best. XD

Will you be doing more Nickelodeon Sitcom stories?

Well, I for one am glad you bothered to explain yourself before deciding to cancel this wonderful little fic. As you've stated, too many folk who decide to cancel their stories don't even give a reason as to why. And I can understand wanting to cancel this one. If you feel like continuing would just end up with you hating it, the story would suffer for it. Hope to see your future stories, fam. Stay cool, friend.

Thank you for understanding CaioCoia! For all that's worth, I'm glad I made you laugh. And don't worry, I still have more stories to tell.

And you are awesome too!

It's the least I could do. I know there's a lots of people (to my surprise) who liked this story. I feel bad for canceling this story, but I just don't have the heart to write it anymore. I also hate to disappoint everyone, but it wouldn't be fair to the readers if I just stop suddenly and not informing that I'm not continuing like other authors on this site (or any other fanfiction sites).

I appreciate your understanding and I hope you'll stick around for any new upcoming stories I came up with next.

You stay cool too my friend!
