Looking to publish next Nightmare Night chapter this weekend · 2:29pm Jun 9th, 2020
It's about half-done at 4000 words right now. To perhaps little surprise, I've had trouble getting back into the mood to write clop with all the crap happening in the world around us, but to that I tell myself that escapes are just made all the more important. So the work goes on.
The new chapter will follow a familiar pattern of a main scene and a side scene that sets the stage for a future main scene. The main scene, of course, is the long-awaited and much-anticipated taking of our favorite G-E courier Peregrine Pacil. The side scene is a surprise, as I decided it's time to deal with another slightly languishing but as-yet untaken character, whose handling will be... tricky. My only hint--it's not Starlight. That might actually be enough for some of you to guess.
BTW, AJ_Aficionado has come up with the term "Alternating Current" to describe this style of storytelling where you shift back and forth between scenes and perspectives. This as opposed to doing a "Direct Current" story flow whether everything is linear and there's no real scene shifting except maybe by chapter. As I think that's an excellent insight and description, I hereby accept those terms into my writing lexicon.
I'm looking forward to reading the next chapter. The only character that I can think of that fits your description is Discord. I will find out when I read the chapter and perhaps it will also give an idea for how long it will last until Starlight gets taken.

You'll find out if your guess is right in a few days, probably. And despite what I said earlier, I'm actually leaning against converting Starlight at this point, only because there's a very particular scene I'm aiming for at the end of this which only makes sense if Starlight isn't taken. So both she and Trixie will probably escape this unscathed... physically if not mentally.
