Inspiration's the most awkward sod there is, and I shan't ever understand it. You (or I at least, you're probably a bit more competent about this) can go weeks on end making inarticulate noises of pure frustration at a doc, bullying your brain for sparks and ideas and getting leaden confusion in return, and just when you're about ready to curse the written word as one of humankind's many Bad Ideas and forswear literacy forever, you stumble across this picture.
And disconnected notions come together and click like that, and you find yourself the confused possessor of two-and-a-half thousand horse words some hours later.
Inspiration. Who even kens what its deal is.
It's been a while since I gave Best Princess a story of her own, and it's about time she had her own present-tense first-person chance to natter. If you're interested in a story where she parleys with her innermost demons while doing a little alicorn-tier gardening, Dark Country might be up your alley. Let me ken what you make of it.
Ooh. :O This intrigues me.

Gardening's always got that intriguing mystique to it.
Inspiration is like that mad genius who single-handedly works out the Grand Unified Theory of Everything, stunning you with the simple brilliance of the awe-inspiring universe and how obvious the answer should have been to us all... and then neglects to tell anyone they've solved it, plops it in a drawer, forgets about it, and carries on twiddling their thumbs and wondering why people keep shouting at them to do some work around the office already.
Also, is this story in a similar vein to Starscape, perchance? Because the general idea seems remarkably kindred in spirit.

Excellent comparison! Just include it also never showing up at the office when it's needed but happily bumbling in after all the fires have already died down, and it'd be perfect.

It's definitely of a type with Starscape. Both Celestia-centred, both featuring her working hard while grief/horrible-psyche-demon-things gnaw at her, both clock in at a sleeker word count than I'm used to inflicting on the site.
I like writing for Celestia, but I imagine she wishes I wouldn't. She can't be having with all this angst.
Inspiration is a bastard, but a magnificient one.

When inspiration delivers, boy, does it deliver. And when it's inert and dopey, by god, it's certainly those things too.
Wow, this feels a lot like venom at the beginning... except without Venom, of course.

How so?
At the beginning... when Daybreaker is talking to Celestia. It’s sorta like Venom with that guy... Kent Clarkman? Wait, no, that’s Superman...
