NegotationsVerse What If? (Not a future fanfic) Part 1 · 6:40pm Apr 11th, 2020

So a friend of mine decided to ask me a certain What If? situation based on my NegotationsVerse series.

In the series canon, Celestia didn't tell the public or the other nations of their world that the sun was dying and it would lead to their end if they didn't do something. She hid the fact that the entire transportation of her people was a method to save them from their grim fate while leaving every other living being in Equestria to die either without the sun and moon or, if they even managed to survive that, the eventual sun's death. So my friend proposed a "What If" to me. What if Celestia TOLD the world what was going on and how they were only 200 years from their inevitable death.

Why am I doing this? Well, on the off chance someone wants to use this for a fic idea feel free to use it. And besides, it was fun. It will be in two parts, however, this is part 1

MASS PANIC!

Obviously being told that your world is going to end would cause chaos. Some races would even react violently toward ponies and ponies to each other until the leaders of the world finally managed to calm things down long enough to discuss what can be done, giving all their resources and pooling their ideas together to find a way to save their world. Sadly, the only thing that can be done is teleporting to another world, Earth to be exact, but there is still not enough magic and power to teleport them all. After many arguments, discussions, and failed ideas it is finally accepted that they cannot save everyone, but can only save a few from each race. Thus the construction of Project Faraway Haven was created: the first nation that would be home to all races and teleported to Earth to ensure the survival of their respective races. The only ones who refused to help out were the Sirens, convinced they could survive in the water the upcoming end, and the Centaurs who had become a wasteland of raiders after the assassination of the royal family 900 years ago. Even the Changelings resisted joining at first, but a Coup overthrew Chrysalis and King Pharynx was chosen to lead due to his determination to see the hive survive.

Engineers, architects, mages, farmers, construction workers, and more from every race worked together create this new nation using unsettled land in the Griffin Territories that was rich in farming and processed enough environment landscapes to suit most if not all the races from the hippogriffs to the yaks. Cities and towns were built, factories and farms were constructed, armies where soldiers and fighters of all races were forced to work and train together to defend their new home. Many tried to sabotage or take advantage of the situation, but were all stopped thankfully. In ten years, the construction of the new home was complete. However, now came the hard part: Choosing who would go.

It was decided that the leader of every nation, along with those needed for their cabinet or advisory, would be allowed to go while an equal number of a lottery system was decided that a 100,000 members of every race would be allowed to go to the new world. There were exceptions: those who were too old, those too dangerous in their past or current actions, those who were already dying of illness, and a few others were denied. Everyone was to pick from a lottery.

Needless to say, this caused outraged among many who felt like they had no choice in the matter and leaving it all to fate. Yet there was no choice as Haven didn't have the resources or the room for everyone. Some were selfless enough to deny a lottery ticket while others were so selfish they killed for them. When the time came, many sighed or cried in relief that they would live while other wept that they were being left behind. The long trek to salvation wasn't easy, and it took two years to accomplish, but at long last Haven was ready to go.

For Twilight and her friends, because they were needed with the Elements of Harmony, they were given permission to move in with their families at no cost. Princess Cadence and her family, including their daughter Flurry Heart, were allowed due to being the royal family of a separate nation from Equestia. However, in a shocking move, Princess Celestia decided to stay behind. Someone needed to raise the sun and moon for the next 200 years until the end, and she still wanted to find a way to save their world if it was possible. Discord also decided to stay behind to help, if only to keep Celestia from being too bored in his words. After the entire population was settled, the leaders united as a new council to decide their government, and with a heavy heart the entire nation of Haven, populated by neary every race, was teleported away from their world to the dimension of Earth.

Earth 2037.

Due to economic and resource problems, the world is slowly on its way to World War Three. Alliances are drawn and the world waits its breath as what may be Judgement Day comes with each passing day. Suddenly, satellites all over the world pick up a brand new energy bursting out of nowhere as time and space are bend like nothing ever seen before. A bright light over the pacific ocean can be seen from space stations as the astronauts wonder what happened. Many fear a bomb was unleashed, but cooler heads prevail when no traces of radiation can be seen and diplomats quickly respond to let everyone know that they are not responcbile for this.

Eventually, the light settles down as all of humanity looks on their screens in awe at the impossible.

A nation, never seen before, has appeared on their world.

The United States is the first to send recon drones and planes due to being the closest nation to the new landmass and what they find shocks them. Creatures, thought to be myths, appear as if they came out of a story book. Dragons. Unicorns. Griffins and more. Scientists all over the word are stunned. Religious leaders try to figure out what this means in their holy texts. Furries go straight away to making huge amounts of porn. (I couldn't resist, hehe)

However, instead of mindless creatures, the appearance of towns, roads, machines, and more leads the world's governments to believe that the creatures are sentient. The UN calls an emergency meeting and agrees to send an escorted diplomat team of the best of their kind to represent them. The world is ablaze with the through of meeting extraterrestrial and mythical life at the same time. Some wonder if this would lead to war or peace, theories ranged on the internet, but everyone was excited as thoughts of war turned into the most basic emotions of human nature: curiosity.

The citizens of Haven were just as surprised to see the humans land on their shores and marveled at their technology. The humans, in turn, were fascinated by the concept of magic being real. After seven days of learning from one another, Princess Luna was decided to make the official first speech to the world in what became their histories largest and biggest live broadcast. Greeting the human race, Luna explained their situation, why they had come, and what they wanted: to live in peace. She and her fellow council members were ready to offer Haven's good and magic to humanity in return for their cooperation and technology. Most responded positively to this message while more cynical ones were too distrusting.

The Council of Haven and The U.N began long talks both as a group and separately for other nations. In turn, The UN began working harder then ever to unite Humanity as close as could be. They were no longer the only race in the universe, now there was a "them" that could unite "us."

Plans were made from both sides on how to deal with each other. Peace and trade were given as both sides grew to respect one another and learn. Many began to love human technology, their religions and cultures, and their determination to always improve and expand themselves. Some moved to their cities and homes to begin making a new life for themselves or bring something from their world to the human cities. Humans in turn benefited from the magic and power of Haven. Magic allowed access to things humanity could only dream up such as new energy, transportation, and even cures for diseases. While humanity could never practice magic, it was able to use magic powered devices. In turn, humanity learned new skills and improvements from the other races such as new ways to farm, predict weather, craft different types of metal, and more.

Still, there were downsides. There were those in Haven who didn't trust humanity due to their greedy and war diven past, especially with how they had been polluting their home. There were also humans who didn't trust the aliens or saw them as abominations in the eyes of their gods. Still, despite all the hardship, for the past 200 years, Humanity and Haven managed to live side by side in peace. When the 200th year of their arrival had past, those who were able to survive that long held a memorial for their old world believing that it had been perished at this point. President Luna, who had gone through her third reelection after Haven adopted a republic 120 years after arriving, stated "While we will always remember those who were left behind, they live inside of us and its up to us to see that they are not forgotten."

But what nobody knew at the time was that not everyone had perished. A large number had survived.

And they had not forgotten.

Part 2 to come soon.

I have another question. What if Celestia had just asked the humans for help rather than starting the war she did?

Same thing that's happening here, only just ponies. At some point, it would be figured out that Celestia left everyone back home to die and she would allow herself to be tried for her crimes by her fellow ponies who would sentence her to be turned to stone for life. A fate she accepts.

Interesting and rather believable version. Waiting for the part 2 of this "what if" now:pinkiehappy:

Goddamn this has me hooked. Also it got cut off there and the end.

Something tells me that those who didn't parish will find a way to Earth and declare war on those who left them.

Maybe Discord decides that at the end rather than let all life die he transforms them into a species that can survive. And that species goes mad and demands vengeance on those who are unchanged.

If they knew when the sun was going to die, isn't 200 years a little premature for sending everyone away? It's a long time, they couldn't have used that to save more?

They came to the conclusion that even if they spent another 200 years nothing could change.

I had actually kind of thought about this way back when you first published "Truth", but as Twilight opting to not keep it a secret as at that point such information was irrelevant. Whether or not Celestia was malevolent or not in her actions, whether or not she was honest about, she had still chosen to allow the extinction of multiple sapient species and the direct extermination of another without any attempt at coexistence. I honestly had found it worst that the usual benevolent Celestia had abandoned everything that Equestria and Harmony stood for instead of just being some kind of xenophobic psychopath.

As for the exact prompt, I would have had Celestia be honest with all species of Haven. They than come to coexistence by collectively trying to find a way to keep the sun from dying and a possible "escape route" if the first objective fails. This would ultimately lead to none of the species being abandoned, but beyond this I am not certain how future events would play out.

I once had an idea for a side story set in this universe:

As Fluttershy feels her life coming to an end, after living a long and happy life, she asks Discord to use his magic to take them back to Equus (Discord canonically has the power to open up portals between dimensions) just to see what has happened to the world, and so she can see her home world one last time. He agrees but tells her that he only has enough magic left to take the two of them. When they arrive, the world is stuck in an eternal night with the sun finally dead. There are still some creatures alive, the surface is in ruins, and some still live underground, but it's clear that the whole world will be dead and lifeless soon. As they're about to leave, Fluttershy finds a young griffon child, and she has Discord take them back to Earth instead in order to give them a proper life, while she stays behind to die in her home world.

You're free to do whatever ideas you want based on my NegotationsVerse. I keep hoping to see more works based on it or inspired by it.

That lottery system means a lot of families will be torn apart. If you're a parent, and only one of your three children gets a ticket...

*Shudders*. Dark times.

ooooh...I love this...please oh please, make this into a story!!!!

5240549
They needed more energy to transport more creatures, right?
couldn't they just store it, to use it later to teleport more?
Like a magical battery?

Also shouldn't they lose the ability to use magic?

5241141
It still wouldn't be enough time. And no they didn't lose their magic, but it did weaken when crossing over to our world

5241144
Also, In their place I would have planned additional steps to their plan of action, after that teleportation to a new world, something like a last try to bring the rest of the creatures there

In Equestria, before they left, they could build a big gate, like a giant Crystal Mirror or just big one to at least fit yaks, etc
So at the earth, they could create the other gate, connect it and evacuate the rest

From canon, we know that two connected things can communicate between dimensions, like Sunset's and Celestia's journal
That's another thing they could have done
They could have made several books connected to each other so if that worked they wouldn't depend on one book and communicate with each other

There is a race that makes me curious about its role in this story, what will happen to the dragon race? Would they also flee their world or are they stubborn enough to abandon their lands?

5241287
They would flee, but not the biggest ones. Mostly the younger and mid-age ones

5241290
Question, do Ember and Smolder exist in this universe? Would Ember be able to run away knowing that her father would not be able to go with her?
