Marking myself safe · 11:04pm Mar 18th, 2020
Well... this didn't turn out to be the usual election year health scare. Yeah, never thought it would get this point.
I was excited to have a 9 to 5 again so I could have a social life, but now that I have one everything is closed. Even BABSCon got cancelled. Granted, I wouldn't have been able to go anyway, but that's still depressing.
I'm safe and I'm not worried. Even though my office isn't closing, steps have been taken to ensure no one is huddled up. Several of my coworkers are working out of home. Sadly, I can't yet.
Hope you all stay safe. I'll try to have an update for you all this weekend.
Wow. Oof. Best wishes with everything, Darth.
There are times when working for the (censored for security) is surreal, in the most sincere meaning of that word.
For the last 30+ years, employees have been able to put a box of office-purchased tissues on their desks for whatever you're going to use tissues for in our offices. They're GSA brand, which means rough and tough and scratchy, which is fine. If you're sick, go home and use your own soft fluffy tissues with lotion. About a year or two ago, the Word came down: No more purchases of tissues with the office credit card. They are deemed 'personal items' and therefore go buy your own, losers. Two weeks ago, our central office here got a rather large carton filled with Kleenex brand anti-viral tissues, sufficient for us to send one (1) box to each of our field offices.
Yep. That's it. A box of tissues infused with (reads label) Citric Acid and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate for the whole office and any visitors to use.
We're saved from the evil viral scourge. Woot. Thank you very much.
Stay safe dude. I have tons of supplies so if I need to stay in my house for 3 to 4 weeks I’ll be fine, but for now I need to keep going to work. But I am healthy and I hope you stay healthy too.
Stay safe and be careful. We're pulling for you!
Oh shit I’ve been waiting for BABSCon to officially get cancelled.

Better than fine - made with pride by Americans who are blind!
I'm glad to know that things are going relatively smoothly for you. Things are getting rough out there for a lot of people, including myself at my job.
